I only get a half an hour for lunch. Which isn't much time. Generally I'll skip my 'break' 2 days out of the week so I can have an hour break 2 other days during the week.
But here's my problem. I pack my lunch and like to eat at my desk. Breaks up the day you know? So on my actual lunch break what do I do? It's rainy today so I can't go for a walk. And I don't want to BUY lunch (bad for the wallet and hips), nor do I want to go shopping. I don't really have any errands to run. And so here I sit... pondering what to do with my half hour break. I'll most likely just skip it today... but if anyone has any suggestions for cheap things to do on an hour or half hour lunch break PLEASE let me know!
In other news I'm doing well with temptations at work. I did give in and had a hershey's kiss, but that's ok. I'll count it and I just had ONE. I got back from a staff meeting and there was a big bag of chocolate TURTLES sitting on my desk! I have no idea who put them there but you bet your ass I picked the bag up right away and took it to the kitchn... which is far away from me.
Menu for today looks something like this...

Day Two
So far so good! It's 7.23 and I still have 3 points left. What is going on? Why does this seem - dare I say it - somewhat easy? I mean I never have 3 points left after dinner. I only get 23 points a day people!
Granted I was going light today because I was supposed to go out tonight (but the stupid boy got sick and canceled on me grrrr) but instead of going crazy I still had a somewhat well balanced meal! Menu for today looks like this:
Bfast:
High Fiber Quaker Oats (Maple and Brown Sugar) - 3
Tea w/ honey - 1
Snack:
Homemade trail mix - 3
Lunch:
Lean Cuisine Stuffed Rigatoni (love this one!) - 4.5
2 clementines - 0.5
Motts Plus Applesauce - 0
Snack:
ONE piece of chocolate (I JUST HAD ONE!) - 1
Dinner (very random):
chicken cake - 2
Light Flat Out wrap w/ 2 slices light cheese toasted - 3
fried egg - 2
Snack (since I still have 3 points):
1 pb ball - 2
light hot chocolate w/ ff whipped cream - 1
Also - random victory. I was unpacking my lunch bag (the stuff I didn't eat) when I got home from work and there was a 1 point WW choc pb bar in there. I mindlessly opened it and almost took a bite when I realized a) I wasnt hungry and b) I really didn't want it! So I just threw it out! I know, amazing.

Two Days in a Row???
I heart TFA (aka boot camp). Quad explosion 1 was tonight's workout. And 5 minutes into it my quads were screaming! Squats with med balls, core work, crazy lunges with a twist, some foot work on the ladder... all sorts of good stuff. I'm so excited about session 2! I'm still slow (ok the slowest) but I don't even care anymore. It's not about being the best... its doing MY best. So there. How was that for corny ha!
I also was totally carb free after 5pm tonight! I made a little taco thingy for dinner. Just ground beef, taco seasoning, sauteed peppers and onions, then topped with tomato (from the garden!), some RF cheese and light sour cream. Delish and filling. I had frozen blueberries with a splash of milk for 'dessert' since I'm not allowd to have sweets. TBs GF recomended it and at first I wasnt feeling it but by the end I was diggin it. AND I didn't feel guilty. Wooo!
My week is about to get crazy ... and fast! Tomorrow night I have boot camp, then home to walk the pup, then dinner. By the time all of that is over it's 8pm. Then I have to pack (FOR CANCUN, I know woe is me). Wednesday night I'm going to see So You Think You Can Dance on tour. I know. I can't believe I'm going either. And I'm going WITH MY BOSS! She loves the show too so we bought tickets. Hysterical. It should be a fun night. And Thursday night I'm going out with the boy. It's a whole long story about why I'm not sure he's into me (and might have to do with the fact that until now I've only dated girls... yeah that was fun to tell him haha) but I sucked it up and texted him to see ifhe wanted to hang out and I got a "sounds good" response so I'll take it. We shall see what happens. Then Fri morning I'll be hopping a plane to Cancun. And MAYBE being in the 160s? I'll have to be SUPER good until then but I'm trying my best!
One more thing -- my BFF from 1st grade and I started a food blog a while ago. We've been SLACKERS about posting on it but she's determinded to be a good blogger and is new to this whole world soooo maybe you could go comment? Come on you know you want to! She's trying ot get back on the weight loss wagon and ya'll are so supportive so share the love!
Thats all I got. I'm going to read a bit (have any of you read the Stephenie Meyer books? I'm starting Twilight) and then get to BED.

Bullets, Beer and Twitter
I have lots to say today so we'll go bullet style. Yes! That's my favorite way to post hahaha.
HAPPY FRIDAY!
- My best friend from first grade is in town visiting this weekend. YES! I'm so excited to hang out with her :)
- We are doing the Race for the Cure tomorrow morning! We'll most likely do a walk/run combo - I can't wait!
- My eating this week has been ALL over the place but I'm trying to be as good as I can considering I was on vacation Sat-Tues, have a friend in town this weekend AND haven't been to the grocery store in over a week
- I went to boot camp Wed morning and last night! I was crank city yesterday and did not want to be there but when it was over I was so happy I went. The workout was actually sort of fun, other than running up and down a huge hill and around soccer fields
- AND the website for boot camp is finally up. I'd link it but I'd rather not have it come up that it was through my site (I don't need TB knowing what I eat everyday hahahaha). There are pictures of TB and his GF all over, so very vain, but it cracks me up. It's topteamfitnessacademy with a little .com at the end. So take two seconds to type it out :)
- I joined twitter!!! My username is jeannie962. I don't really get it, but if you twitter (or is it twit?) too come find me.
- Date on Wed night went well. Not much chemistry, but we shall see. We did have a really fun time, drank a few beers and laughed a lot. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
- I had the BEST beer last night. I don't usually drink beer but I couldn't pass this one up. It's Cottonwood's Pumpkin Spiced Ale. AMAZING! You can really taste the pumpkin and spices. It was like desserty! Delish.
- I'm sorry that I haven't been commenting on all the BLBE blogs this week, it's just been a little bit crazy! Hopefully next week will be better but I've been reading along in my google reader and cheering everyone on in my head! Keep up the good work. Hopefully I'll have at least a little loss to counteract last week's GAIN.
- I've had two P-Spice latte's (translation: pumpkin spice lattes) this week. I made myself wait until Oct to try them so you bet your ass that after getting just 4 hours of sleep on Tues night and 6 on Wed night I was pumping myself full of caffeine p spice latte style on Oct 1 and 2. I LOVE THEM!
- I'm wearing jeans today that I bought FOUR years ago and have never fit into. Talk about a good feeling!!!!
- I'm obsessed with this birth control the dr. put me on. It's Seasonale where you only get your period once every 3 months.. which sort of irked me but she assured me it's ok. So uhm for the first time in THREE MONTHS I have my period and it's so much better than it used to be. Still have cramps but not nearly as bad and really... every THREE months? Amazing!! Sorry if that was TMI but I'm just totally obsessed :)
HAPPY FRIDAY!

Amazing Stuff and Boot Camp: Day 3
Kari, over at Taking Back Control, saw my before pictures (from the Charlotte tri) and was inspired. I can't even begin to say how humbled I am by her post. I never thought a goal that I set for myself last Christmas would ever have any sort of impact on anyone else. BUT... it has! I was able to convince Carrie to sign up even though she'd JUST HAD A BABY - talk about heros (and it was SO great having her there in Philly!!). Then my cousin signed up for the 2 day Breast Cancer walk in NYC after cheering me on at my first tri. So not only has she been training for that, but she also raised a BOATLAD of money for breast cancer research (if you feel generous feel free to donate some more). And now Kari is going to do a tri! So go visit her site and cheer her on :)
Whew... that was a lot of links! But it totally made my morning.
In other news -- I got up again for Boot Camp this morning! Three days in a row up at 5:40! We had our "Standardized Test" -- but no, I didn't need a number 2 pencil. Teehee. It was a set course that we had to do and TB timed us. Then we'll do it again at the end of the 6 weeks to see how much we improved. The course was as follows:
- jog 2 laps around soccer filed
- 20 pushups (i did girlie ones on my knees)
- jog a lap
- 30 situps
- jog a lap
- 20 squats
- jog a lap
- 20 pushups
- jog a lap
- 30 situps
- jog a lap
- 20 squats
- jog a lap
Today I was the slowest person but only by about a minute. Though one guy finished like 16 minutes before me!!! Insane. But I was proud because I didn't allow myself to walk at all. I did jog every single lap. Granted it was a slow pace... but I didn't give up. My time was 28:11. I was hoping to do it in 30 minutes so I was happy! Hopefully in 6 weeks it'll be easier AND faster. We shall see :) I get to sleep in tomorrow and I'm going to the 5:45 PM session... woohoo for sleeping!
In other news, I have a date tonight. More on that tomorrow :)
As for the BLBE Challenge... I've been working out (hello boot camp), and tracking everything I eat. I've been SO proud of myself.... but the stinkin scale is moving UP! I will NOT let it de-motivate me. Screw you scale. I know I'm doing all the right stuff. (Someone remind me of this if I have a gain on Sat and melt down hah)

Alive!
I survived the tri. It was actually awesome -- I loved it!!!! Certainly have room for improvement, but my goal was to finish and I did that so I'm happy! But I totally didn't RUN the run portion. I sort of shuffled/jogged about a mile of it the rest I walked. So for the Charlotte tri I need to get that time down. But I was really happy with my swim and bike times. Woohoo!
Full report tomorrow when I have time. But just saw that the official results were up. Here's my info. Also stop by Carrie's blog because she did it too and KICKED BUTT!!! The girl just had a baby and still rocked the tri. It was so fun hanging out with her at the race! So go tell her how awesome she did :)
I drove back to Charlotte today. Made good time but am pooped from so much driving and the crazy weekend with my family.

I DID IT!
I have much to discuss today, so I'll just break it down bullet style.
Ok... I'm off to shower, get my dress fitted and go to the hardware store to get some gardening supplies.
Enjoy your weekend!
- Last night while babysitting we ordered pizza for dinner... I only had ONE PIECE!!!! Henry on the other hand had TWO! He kept saying "Moe pizzahhhh peeeeezzz" A 2 year old after my own heart!
- I didn't eat the BROWNIES that were on top of the fridge EVEN after Leah pointed them out to me and told me to be sure I helped myself. YES!
- I was down 0.4 today. I'm SO CLOSE to being in the 170s... less than a pound to go and I'll be there!
- Sad news -- today was my leaders last meeting! I'm SO upset. I love her and feel like the reason I've stuck with it is because she really cares about everyone. She must have well over 100 memebers between all of her meetings and knows everyones name. I'm really bummed. Everyone was crying!! She's moving to KY -- she got a job that she just couldn't turn down and they were like we need you to start in 2 weeks. Sadness.
- The really really big news....

Cake, Running and Reading
Just thought I should check in since I realize it's been a few days since I posted. And by few days I mean ONE. Whatever, it seems like it's been more than that.
I had a little slip up on Tuesday night. Just ate crappy stuff, and too much of it and then decided screw it all... and skipped the gym. But I got right back on track yesterday and had close to a perfect day. Ate only 26 points (2 over), got to the gym and get this... ran for 18 minutes! I did 3, then 90 seconds off, then TEN, then 4 minutes off, then five. I was so proud of myself. And when I was doing the 10 minute run, I think I could have gone another minute. We shall see on Friday :) I'm actually looking forward to it. Who am I and what happened to that girl who HATES the treadmill???
It's beautiful here today. Clear blue skies and 76 degrees. I'm excited to go home tonight, put the cushions on our patio furniture and read while the pups run around going crazy. I got The Friday Night Knitting Club for my birthday and started it last night, it's really cute. Perfect to read while enjoying a late spring afternoon. Yes!
After I so some reading, eat dinner, and dry my gym clothes (they are all sitting in the washer right now) I'll head off to the gym. And might stop at Target on the way home from the gym. I have stuff to return there and I need to get some birthday cards. But we'll see if that actually happens. I'm usually ready to hit the shower as soon as I leave the gym!
Todays menu:
Bfast:
milk - 2
whole grain pancakes - 2
Lunch - We went out to a local place for an autism awareness fundraiser
Island salad (grilled salmon, grilled pineapple, cheese, cucumbers, tomato) - 10
Snacks:
fruit salad w/ ff redi whip - 2
Dinner:
HG's alfredo sauce over Ronzoni Smart pasta w/ broc and red peps- 5
Snack:
Not sure -- something for 3 or 4 points
And last but not least... there is cake in the kitchen at work right now. A HUGE ass cake. EVERYONE has been eating it all day. Carrying plates of cake around. And talking to me with lips tinted blue from the icing. But did I cave and have any? NO I DIDN'T! Am I so freakin proud I could cry? HELLS YEAH! So let's hope that in the next 19 minutes I don't cave. Sure would suck to have to edit this post :)

Pumped
I almost forgot to write about my proud moment last night! I did day one of week four on the couch to 5k! The workout breaks down like this:Warm up: 5 minutes
Run: 3 minutes
Walk: 90 seconds
Run: 5 minutes
Walk: 2.5 minutes
Run: 3 minutes
Walk: 90 seconds
Run: 5 minutes
Cool down: 5 minutes
I made the last run SIX minutes which means that I ran a total of 17 minutes! That's MORE than half. And I felt ok afterwards. I wasn't dying. I mean it certainly wasn't easy and I was ready for that last run to be over, but I did it. Might I someday actually be able to run for 30 minutes straight?? Looks like this might be possible. I ended up doing 2 miles in 30:51. Which I realize is still not amazing, but it's a good start. By August I hope to be doing 3.1 miles in 35-40 minutes. Probably closer to 40 - but why not shoot for 35?!
And now for the bad news -- I went out for lunch since it was half price lunch at the Flying Saucer and I got a veggie burger that came with cucumbers, avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion. Good, right? And a side of FRIES! Woops. But I don't feel bad or guilty. I've counted the points and will adjust my day accordingly. As long as I don't let it turn into a horrible downward spiral I'll be a-ok! It's all about finding balance.
AND, I'm super excited for the finale of The Biggest Loser. I cannot wait to see who got voted off and how everyone looks! YAY!

Lesson Learned -- The Clock is NOT my Friend
It's finally Friday! And its sunny and 62 right now. Going up to 79! I cannot WAIT! I'm planning on running errands at lunch in my flips, jeans and t-shirt. I love my job and the sun. If I can scoot out of here early you can bet your behind I will be doing so. And going DIRECTLY to the gym to do my last day of week 3 couch to 5k. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I'm hyper. ha!
Last night I made eggs for dinner. They were yummy. I needed protein but couldn't bare the thought of cooking meat. Then I hit up the gym with Trainer Boy....
I got myself in trouble by looking at the clock at one point (in my defense I felt like I'd been doing side lunges for 20 minutes, whatever apparently it was only 4) and he was like "Are you looking at the clock? I know you'd never do that! You love this time with me! BUT, if you want to do a clock drill, we can do that next" FAAAAAAAAHCK! What came up next? WALL SITS! So TB gets up against the wall, takes a seat and says "All you have to do is sit like this for 1 minute. Easy, right?" Before I even started I was scared because I knew 15 seconds was pushing it. teehee. Soooo I did 20 seconds, and had to stop. Bad idea. TB decided like the longer break I took I'm he was going to subtract the time of my 'break' from the 20 seconds I already did... So he's all "Get back down, you still have 40 seconds...... up now its 45 seconds....." and so on. So I got down again and think I did 55 seconds (total, not at once). And then we did it again. Good lord. It was horrible. The second go round he started saying "Just think about something else. It's totally mind over matter... see? you've already done 5 seconds!" With an evil, I love to watch people suffer, grin on his face. To which I replied "If you'd shut the hell up maybe I COULD think about something else!" He laughed and mentioned how he wished all his clients were as sweet as me. I also told him I hated him with a deep passion. Which, at that moment, I really did.
So lesson learned, never will I look at the clock again. Though now that he knows how much I LOVE them, I'm sure he'll add it to the regular rotation. I'm thinking of trying to do at least 1 minute/day to get better. It's something I can do while waiting for my tea water to boil for heavens sake! We'll see if that happens. But for today... my butt is feeling it. From the wall sits or lunges I'm not sure... but I'm making muscle baby and that means I'm burning fat. YEAH!
Weigh in tomorrow. I really hope to see just a little bitty loss. I'd be PUMPED to see 1 lb. Here's hoping!!
I made iced tea this morning. Boiled a big pot of water and used 1 bag of cran-pom green tea and a bag of regular black tea. Then poured it over a huge glass of ice with a squeeze of lemon. It's the perfect morning treat.
What's everyone up to this weekend? I'm not sure what were doing. Tomorrow I'll do WI and then lift at the gym. If it's nice I'm hoping to ride later in the afternoon -- but they're calling for scattered T-storms, so we shall see. Then a friend of mine is playing at the Wine Vault tomorrow night so Ar and I might go. We shall see. At some point we need to get an insane amount of cleaning done as our house is a MESS and our backyard looks like a jungle!!! So probably Sunday will be spent doing all of that. Hopefully my allergies will be in check by the time yard work rolls around.
Hmmm what else? Oh right -- confession. Last night I got home from the gym and had THREE peanut butter (tagalong-esque) cookies when I got home from the gym AND a freakin WW cookies n cream bar. EIGHT points of snacks. Granted I counted all of them. But that was a wee bit too much sugar/carbs/bad stuff for after 8pm (even it it was only 8:10). BAD jeannie. Oh well... we all mess up, right? Back on track today!
Bfast:
iced tea - 0
waffles w/ fruit on top - 3
Lunch:
pb&j from yesterday! - 3
yogurt - 2
Snacks:
honey nut chex w/ milk - 3 (mil serving)
strawbs and naner w/ whipped cream - 2
celery - 0
Dinner:
Not a clue... any suggestions? Maybe I'll do burgers and dogs on the grill.
TONS of water today and for real no eating after 8pm. That scale is going to be ready for me first thing tomorrow morning!!!

Which, at that moment, I really did.So lesson learned, never will I look at the clock again.

Snacks:

I love the SUN
Last night I made a taco thing with ground beef, light velveeta, peppers, onions, tomatoes, taco seasoning, sour cream and put it all on TJs low carb tortilla. It was super yummy for 6 points!! I also went to the gym straight from work -- did day 2 of week 3 couch to 5k and added an extra 3 minutes of running on to it since I knew I could yeah!!! Then I did 15 on the elliptical.
Today is beautiful! Already 59 degrees, I painted my toenails last night and have on open toed shoes, I switched to a summery butterfly bag I got for my birthday and tomorrow is FRIDAY! What's not to love about today?
I've been thinking a lot about the scale... the numbers fluctuate so much for me. Just 4 days ago it was 5 pounds higher than it showed this morning. Just goes to show that you can't base everything on a number. Lately I've been FEELING so much better and am starting to see (very small) changes in my body. I'm trying to focus more on them, and know that eventually the scale will catch up. Granted it's still nice to see a loss at weigh on... but I also know that it's ok if I don't.
In totally unrelated news I've got a post up about an early morning encounter with an hate filled woman on jeanniew. Check it out if... if you're open minded :)
Bfast:
waffles w/ compote - 2.5
Lunch:
pb&j - 3.5
yoplait thick and creamy - 2
Snacks:
celery -0
strawbs, nanas and fat free redi whip - 1
sf/ff pudding - 1
crackers and cheese - 3
Dinner:
NO idea -- I'm thinking maybe a big omelet with veggies on a light EM.... but we'll see. Something quick easy and light before getting my ass kicked at work :)

Little Accomplishments Add Up
I did pretty well yesterday. Counting my chili in a bread bowl for lunch as 12 (which I think is a high estimate) I only went over my points by 3! Ar got home from work late, ate and then needed to digest before going to the gym. We didn't leave for the gym til 7:50 - but it worked out ok. We got there, I did a 5 minute warm up on the treadmill then lifted. Did hip abductors and flexors, calves, hamstrings and leg press. Then I went to do my 20 minutes of cardio to stretch it all out and after 5 minutes of that Ar came up and was like I'm done... And of course I was like OK! Let's go! I need to work on saying "well I still have 15 minutes" and not letting her being done excuse me from finishing. But I still got in a decent workout... just nervous my calves are going to be super sore tomorrow since I didn't work through it afterwards. We shall see.
Then I pull out of the gym parking lot and there is a McDs right there... one which I've NEVER gone to... not even THOUGHT to go to since I always pass it on my way to or from the gym... and Ar says "Can we stop at McDs so I can get a sundae?" I said sure, went through the drive through... get her a hot fudge sunday and just asked for 2 bites. I was proud. I didn't get my own... had my bites and didn't ask for any more. (So I did pretty good not eating after 8pm... just 2 little bites, could have been MUCH worse). Then we got home, I showered and got my bag packed for today and thought I'd watch the Biggest Loser. I was about to sit down and Ar was like can you do me a huge favor before you sit down? (She was set up with the laptop doing work for the Mtn bike website she writes for) and I was like sure. And she said "Can you bring me those peanut butter cookies?" Yes... I had a coupon for Keebler PB filled cookies (think tagalongs) so I bought them for a treat this week. I've been so good with them... I think I've had 4 total and counted all of them. Anyway... so I got up, brought her the cookies and sat next to her on the couch while she ate them and DIDNT ASK FOR ONE!!!!!!! That is SOOOOOOO big. I kept wanting to ask but reminded myself that I didn't need them and I'd already had my cheat for the night.
At 10:30 I got up to go to bed and my stomach was growling a bit, but I knew if I could make it through the kitchen to the bedroom I'd be fine. And I did!!! Fell right asleep and have no guilt this morning. I'm really super proud. Can you tell????
Tonight is day 2, week 3 couch to 5k. WOOHOO! Not sure if I'll go to the gym right from work or after dinner. Either way I'll go at some point.
Bfast:
milk & ovaltine (dind't drink all of it) - 2
waffles w/ fruit compote - 2.5
Lunch:
leftover chicken ravioli - 6
Snacks:
1/2 banana & strawbs with light whipped cream - 1.5
yogurt - 2
celery - 0
1/2 cookie - 2
Dinner:
Making tacos w/ lean ground beef, velveeta and tons of veggies - 6
Happy Wednesday!!! The sun is finally shining here, going up to 71 today! Just got back from a walk around the lake. Oh how I've missed the sun!

Back on Track - YES!
I did really well yesterday. I ate what I packed and didn't do any extra snacking at work. I stuck to one serving of dinner (Homemade Wonton Ravioli) even though it was SO tempting to eat another serving. But I got up from the table and finished making them and by the time I was done I was full so I was glad I waited to see if I was really hungry... a HUGE victory for me. Ar came with me yesterday and joined the gym!! Her membership got all messed up when we moved because she was on a different plan where she could ONLY go to the gym uptown - so she canceled. They were not being helpful in having her switch her membership. But since her back is messed up she hasn't been riding and there was a no sign up fee promotion going on so she just had to pay the monthly fee. So now I have a gym buddy. I did day 1 of week 3 on the couch to 5k. I thought it was going to be so hard, but it wasn't! I actually ran an additional 90 seconds at the end because I knew I had it in me. WOO!
I got home and broke a rule of not eating after 8:30. But it was just 4 of the cinnamon apple wontons with redi whip. Nothing TOO heavy. And I was nowhere near eating all of my points so I figured it was ok.
If it's nice when I get home from work I'll ride. If not Ar and I will hit up the gym. But no running today... I'll lift and do the bike or elliptical.
Menu!
Bfast:
milk chocolatey ovaltine - 2.5
Light Eggos w/ fruit compote - 2.5
Lunch:
Leftover wontons w/ sauce - 6
Snacks:
celery - 1
babybel light - 1
fruit salad - 1
Dinner:
burger on light EM w/ cheese - 6
corn on the cob - 2
asparagus - 0
Snack:
leftover cin-app wontons - 2

Awesomeness
Today is going to be an awesome day... I just know it! A few reasons....
- I woke up and it was already 59 degrees (going up to 79!)
- I didn't get up early to go for a walk, BUT I got to work early enough to walk around the lake when I first got here! So I've already walked a mile. I had my iPod and rocked out to some tunes while enjoying the early morning sunshine.
- I'm wearing a nice t-shirt, jeans and a new pair of FLIP FLOPS!
- I checked my email and had two e-gift certificates from Ar's parents for my bday! Macy's and Target here I come!
- The PENGUIN for lunch today
- Hopefully scooting out of work early
Anyway... enough of my morning happies. Let's back up to last night. I made pizza for dinner. It was SO SO good, and not all that unhealthy. I had a thin whole wheat crust that is 3 points for 1/4 of it (and it's 12 inches). I diced up red peppers, turkey pep and spinach. Put on a little bit of sauce, a little bit of cheese, toppings and then a little more cheese. HEAVENLY! I cut it into 8 pieces (so 2 would have been a serving) and I had 3 pieces. Also, I finished dinner at 6:15 and didn't eat anything else the rest of the night. HUGE score.
Then I went to the gym. I swear Trainer Boy has hacked into my emails because what did we do?? CORE!!!! Because I JUST sent an email to my WW buddies this week about how I need to work on core more. Well yeah, he usually just does core once in a while because it's pretty basic and the exercises don't change all that much. But for some reason he thought we should do core, and it was horribly obvious that I hadn't been doing it. He has me to sit ups on the bench (like with my legs up on the bar if that makes sense), and I did the first set FINE but after that I literally could only do like 2 at a time. Soooo I have to start doing that more. I WANT to be able to do them. And I want to be able to be like PSSHT no problem the next time we do core together. And my punishment for not having done that at all? CALVES! I told him I had to be able to walk on Sat cause it was my bday. But I'm still scared that I'm going to be laid up again like I was last time. Granted I've done them a few times on my own since then but we shall see. I stretched out a lot last night so hopefully that will help too. When TB was done kicking my butt I did 30 minutes on the treadmill. I was watching the UNC game because it had just started and at one point I was paying such close attention to the game I almost fell off the treadmill!!! Granted I recovered, but let's just say the people around me had a good chuckle. It was really funny. But UNC dominated so that was good. Too bad I'm in LAST place in my family pool.
My bike is still without wheels, so no ride after work. Boo. I guess I'll go to the gym and do the treadmill and elliptical or bike again. BLAH. I'm thinking I'll do some leg work too since it's always empty on Fridays. My goal for next week is to get to the gym TWO times in the morning. This way I can lift (and do my stinkin abs) in peace. That place is desolate in the mornings. I love it!

Lunch:

Snack:

Avocado Love, Fried Pickles and Running
I did started the C25K podcast yesterday. It was really good. The music on it is a little techno-y for my liking, but it's worth it to not have to keep figuring out when you start and stop running. I did it without too much trouble, though at one point the guy was like, "ok you should be feeling the effects of your run, but you shouldn't be out of breath and you should be able to talk comfortably" HA HA HA! I was totally out of breath. I mean I could talk, but would certainly be gasping for some air. I actually laughed at that. I'm hoping to do it again tomorrow night. I'm working out with Trainer Boy tonight, so I don't think my legs will be in running shape after I lift. I'll do an easy walk or the elliptical after lifting and then get back to it tomorrow. Yeah! I am DETERMINED to be a runner. Even if I hate every darn second of it :)
As for dinner at Carrabbas last night.... it was a bit disastrous. I went to town on the bread. It was hot and warm and amazing. For the rest of my dinner I had the salmon with a basil tomato sauce on it and green beans for my side. It came with soup or salad and they had the sausage lentil soup for the special that I LOVE so I got that. I ate most of my soup and half of my entre. And then my weight in bread. I heart carbs. And you know what? I don't really feel guilty about it. I splurged at dinner last night but am right back on track today. I was tempted to have a snack at 10:30 last night because Ar was having one, but then I was like hold up - you are not hungry at all! So I didn't. So yes, I ate more than I would have liked, but the little victories are ordering salmon and not pizza or pasta in cream sauce, and getting veggies for my side instead of pasta or potatoes. Next time maybe I'll be able to resist the bread.... HA! AND, one of the girls knew my birthday was coming up (thanks to myspace haha) and she insisted on buying my dinner. So that was super sweet of her. Especially since the salmon was a bit pricey!
In other news... I just feel the need to mention how much I love avocado. Now I have a slight allergic reaction to it. Just makes me lips/tongue tingle a bit and my throat itch. It's the same thing that happens when I eat apples or melons. But for a lot of those foods I just think it's worth it to do with the consequences. And avocado CERTAINLY falls in that category. I just really love them. I'm eating my lunch right now and added some avocado to my salad and it just makes the meal. I can't believe the first 20 some years of my life I had no idea how yummy they were!
Also, it's cake day at work, and I feel somewhat obliged to have a piece, since it's my birthday month. I had a VERY small piece of the chocolate cake, it was heavenly but was literally like 2 bites. I tried to tell them not to get me a cake, but we have another March birthday and she's a TOTAL princess and actually requests a very SPECIFIC kind of cake and throws a fit if people get any other kind. Totally ridiculous. But whatever. So I had my small piece of bday cake and added the points in so I'm golden!
Tomorrow people from work are taking me to The Penguin for lunch. Which might prove to be a disaster. The place is amazing. And has been featured on The Food Networks "Diners, Drive Ins and Dives." Amazing burgers, sweet potato fries, regular fries, fried pickles..... but I will just be good the rest of the day. It's also supposed to go up to 79 tomorrow so I'm hoping to get a bike ride in (if wheels somehow get put on my bike tonight... hint hint).
Ok todays menu....
Bfast:
cinnamon life cereal w/ 1/2 cup milk - 3
SMALL piece of bday cake - 3
Lunch:
tastes of food at Trader Joes - 3
salad with baby spinach, peppers, tomatoes, 1 oz light cheddar, 2 oz avocado, 3 wheat thins crushed up, ff balsamic - 4
Snacks:
1/2 banana, strawberries, fat free whipped cream (yes I did pack the entire can of redi whip in my lunch bag) - 1
1/2 whole wheat pita with egg salad (1/2 the yolk, 1 egg, 2 tsp light mayo) - 2
Dinner:
I have NO idea. I'm thinking maybe burgers because it's going up to 75... so grilling would be fun. so maybe:
5 oz burger - 5
avocado - 1
light EM - 1
grilled asparagus - 0

We only have $65,733 more to raise for our drive! Which we can definitely do today if we keep up our momentum. We did 30k this morning alone. WOOHOO! And today is the last day of TONS of food laying around. PRAISE BE!!!!!
I did HORRIBLEY yesterday. I think I ended up eating 38 points. I had Moes for lunch (aka a burrito and chips and queso). I had pizza for dinner. Ben & Jerrys lighten up ice cream after the gym. It was bad. But I worked out HARD so at least that hopefully offset some of it. I did arms with Trainer Boy which is always my hardest and he had no mercy (which was good) and then I did 35 minutes on the treadmill. Did 2.3 miles not to mention the 2 laps I did around the lake at work. Soooo at least I didn't just eat 38 points and then sit around and do nothing :)
Today Dunkin Donuts was for breakfast. I had 1/2 a donut and a piece of bread. Carb loading, what?? Ha! But lunch is Quiznos and I'll have no problems passing that up. No dinner planned, so I'll hit up the gym as soon as I'm done here and make something with VEGGIES once I get home. I hopped on the scale this morning and it looks like all of the greasy food hasn't caught up with me yet. I'm going to a meeting tomorrow since my friend is visiting from out of town this weekend. Just means I need to be extra good today! I've already drank 1/2 a nalgene which is saying a lot since I usually haven't even filled it up by this point.
I just want to maintain this week. Here's hoping!
Menu for today:
Bfast:
see above - 8
lunch:
chicken and pasta bake - 4
snacks:
nectarine - 1
yogurt (yeah milk!) - 2
pudding w/ 1 graham cracker (more milk!) - 3
That will give me 6 points for dinner tonight. I'm not sure what I'll make -- maybe have some leftover meatloaf muffins and then couscous w/ TONS of veggies in it. Mmmm sounds good.
And tonight I plan on doing dishes (you should see my sink right now... it's insane) and watching basketball!

Even after my breakfast splurge I did ok yesterday! I really didn't eat all that much the rest of the day. Had a salad, smoothie and biscuit at work. Then I went to the gym for an hour and sweat like nobody's business! It was awesome. Got home and made TJs mini pizza for dinner. We had pizza here at work so I was craving it, but knew it was a million points. So I was proud of my compromise. And I REALLY REALLY wanted something sweet after my pizza, but it was already 8:30 and I wasn't hungry... I was just bored you know? So I resisted temptation!!! I don't think I used any flexies, but I went back and overestimated my breakfast and biscuit just in case. But I still have 19 flexies for the rest of the week and have only used 2 of my 9 APs. I just have two more days of food at work to get through! I can do this!
Just resisted Burger King breakfast. I'm going to have a leftover organic oatmeal pancake from yesterday which is about 5 points I think. A lot but SO freakin filling and from the recipe not all that bad either! Tonight I have to babysit for someone I work with. It's annoying because I really just want to get out of here and go to the gym and get home. But instead I'll have to leave here at like 4:30, go watch his kids from 5-8:30ish and then won't get home til 9. I'm going to be POOPED. But he had to come in and work and his wife is working tonight (shes a nurse) so I'm taking one for the team. It will be a long day, but a little cash at the end is always welcome. And his kids are adorable. I'm sure I'll get my butt kicked in Candy Land again.
Ok menu time!!!
Bfast:
oatmeal pancake - 5
hot tea - 0
Lunch:
I have my chicken pasta bake as a back up - 4
but lunch is from Just Fresh which has some yummy healthy, FRESH options so I'll see what they bring and make a decision
Snacks:
grapes - 1
YOGURT (i need my milk!) - 2
Dinner:
babysitting... I've got 2 meatloaf muffins - 4
or we'll see what the kiddies are having
No gym today, but tomorrow night is Trainer Boy (even though I'm still sore from last week), and I'll do a lap around the lake with people from work (roughly 1 mile). We've gone everyday of the drive. It's not really a workout for me, but it's great to just get up and move a little bit during the day. And for some of the people I work with it really is a workout and I'm just SO proud of them for bringing their sneaks and keeping up with it. One woman is quite overweight. She huffs and puffs and is really slow but that doesn't matter! I'm just so happy she's getting out and walking with us, you know? So I've been trying to really encourage all of them to get out and come even if they are slow. It's not a race!

It's Drive Time
It's that time of year again... the time where those of us who work in public broadcasting beg for money. It's also the time where there is an obscene amount of food here at work. Between now and next Thursday I'll probably work about 75 hours. And breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks will be served. Todays lunch is burgers and hotdogs from Bad Dog. They sent over every topping under the sun:
FIVE kinds of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, a huge thing of bacon crisp strips, BBQ sauce, honey mustard, ranch dressing, coleslaw, hot sauce, teryaki sauce, four kinds of mustard, chili, pickles... the list goes on and on. I ran out of room on the counter! And then pasta salad, potato salad and chips.
But I brought a yummy salad -- I refuse to gain weight during this drive!!! I passed on bagels this morning for breakfast and will pass on the burger extravaganza. I also have a little piece of leftover homemade pizza from Friday. I figure it's going to go bad soon if it hasn't already so I should eat it. YUM!!!
Dinner tonight is from Duke Mansion. It's a nice B&B here, and I'll partake in that because its always quite decadent (and somewhat healthy)!
I've been at work since 6:30 and will be here til about 6:30... when I'll rush over to the gym and work out with Trainer Boy. I hope I'm still standing by the time I'm done with this day! Ha!
If I'm MIA for a bit, I'll be back after the drive is over. But not to worry I'll be chugging water and packing healthy snacks as best I can. And I won't miss my WW meeting on Sat either. I refuse!!

Learning to Love Today
My morning started out a bit shaky. I got up, had a good shower, everything was good. I even got out of the house by 8:05 (it's usually like 8:20 by the time I leave) and figured I could stop at Starbucks and get a steamer! (I told you I was obsessed!!!) My thought in the shower was that I made 80 bucks babysitting the other day. That is what I use as my 'fun money' -- so this morning I bought a $20 gift card at Starbucks with my 'fun money' and will use that til it runs out. And steamers are under 3 bucks! hahaha. Pathetic that I'm excited about that.
So anyway -- in order for Starbucks to be on my way I have to go a different way. UGH! Never again. There are TWO left turn signals and I sat at each for like 3 light cycles... I didn't even get to Starbucks until 8:27 and I wasn't about to say screw it. So I went in and the line was of course super long. I should have known. But the few other times I've gone on my way in it's been EMPTY! Oh well. My new plan? Go to work my normal route, and stop at the Harris Teeter with the little Starbucks inside. The Teeter is on my way into work and that Starbucks is ALWAYS empty. WOOHOO!
But anyway, I decided not to let any of that get me down. I got to work a few minutes late and no one even cared. I really am lucky to have such a nice job. I remember my days in commercial radio where if I was 3 minutes late someone was making a note of it. And I had an hour commute!! Let's hear it for public radio! And it's going up to 65 today. AND I LOVE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS! Driving home from the gym last night I didn't even have to turn my lights on!
So yes, I went to the gym last night and did a walk/run. I ran (ok maybe jogged) for 8 minutes straight. Doesn't sound like much but started out at only doing like 45 seconds at once I feel like someday I MIGHT get to a point where I can run for a half hour straight. I really really hope so. Even if I do sort of hate it while I'm doing it. I ended up running a total of 14 minutes - today I'm going for 15! I also did 15 minutes on the elliptical. Trainer Boy came up to me to see if I was in a better mood. I suppose I was a WEE bit bitter on Saturday when I saw him, but honestly, not being able to walk for a week what did he expect?! I assured him I was in a FINE mood and he asked if I could make sure I kept that up til Thursday. HA! I'm not making any promises.
ALSO -- yesterday I was on the SheRoxTri website and guess what? THEY ADDED TWO MORE LOCATIONS.... one of which IS IN CHARLOTTE!!!!!! I am SOOOOOO annoyed that I signed up in Philly and NOW they add Charlotte. That means I wouldn't have to take ANY time off and I could do it right here! ARGH! I might call to see if I can switch my registration, but I have a feeling you can't. But, the Charlotte one is only 75 bucks and it's a month and a half after the Philly one.... I'm thinking of doing it as well. I'll already have trained for it you know?
Ok... menu for today! I'm trying to eat more of my points throughout the day so I don't eat as much at night. We'll see how it goes...
Bfast:
STEAMER BABY (1.5 servings of milk holla!) - 3
was going to have waffles... but I got busy at work and then it was lunch time!
Lunch:
leftover chicken and pasta bake (I GOT 5 SERVINGS OUT OF IT, and they are big!!!) - 4
salad w/ 1/2 oz feta and some cashews - 3
Snacks:
fruit salad - 1
yogurt - 2
Dinner:
I was thinking meatloaf, but it takes forever to cook. Soooo I'm thinking some thai food mix I bought - 5
and maybe a big side of veggies (asparagus, peps and broc?) - 0
I'll have some points left to play around with so that will be good. Plus APs but I haven't been using them, so we'll see.
AND BIGGEST LOSER tonight. HOLLA!
Ok.... I think milk makes me hyper! Maybe my barista hid some espresso in it!

Got Milk?
I had a good weekend, but for some reason I thought I could eat whatever the heck I darn well pleased. I didn't do TOO badly (still have 21 flex points left), but could have done so much better. Oh well -- I'm ready to make a fresh start today! And I lost 0.2 pounds this week. Not much at all... but it wasn't a gain and I've now lost 8 pounds since I started in December. VERY slow going, but I'm fine with it. That's over 2 pounds a month so if I can keep that up for a year then that's 24 pounds. I'll take it! If it takes me 2 years to get the weight of so be it. This isn't a race, right?
In other news -- this week I've decided to try to really focus on the WW healthy guidelines. At my meeting someone said something that made a lot of sense: "Get all your boxes checked off first, THEN eat the chocolate cookie." So I'm going to try that. Get all my fruits, veggies, MILK (which is SO hard for me), and some water out of the way FIRST. Then I'll have some treats. So when I'm hungry for a snack have a yogurt (for a milk serving) instead of a 100 cal pack. We'll see how this goes. I've discovered my love for STEAMERS this weekend. Just steamed milk with a flavor shot. Get a sugar free flavor shot and skim milk and it's only 3 points for a tall! I had to stop at Harris Teeter (our foodstore -- AKA the Teeter) this morning to get chips for lunch for work (more on that later) and theres a Starbucks in it. So I started my day off with a big ole dose of calcium! 3 points seems like a lot but it really did fill me up!
As for lunch at work today -- we have our pre-drive kick off lunch. Sammies and cookies from Jimmy Johns and Cape Cod potato chips (which I picked up this morning). SOOO tempting. BUT... I don't need it. I packed a perfectly good lunch! I might have ONE piece of a veggie sammy with no cheese. But we will see. DEF no cookies or chips. They are NOT in my healthy guidelines! And as for food at work, the drive starts on Thursday so there will be 8 days with constant meals provided. I'm really going to try to be good this time. Still bring my breakfast and lunch and maybe just have a little bit. Or pick 2 or 3 meals during the drive that I will splurge on... instead of all 24!!! Like I know Mama Fus pad thai I can't resist so I'll plan accordingly that day. But BK for breakfast? I can totally pass up their sammies. But wish me luck, I've been dreading it for weeks!!!!
Also -- today I'm hitting up the gym after work. I must must MUST get in lots of cardio this week EVEN though as of Thursday I'll be working 12 hours days. I saw Trainer Boy there on Saturday and as soon as he saw me walking over he was like "Hey! I'm doing calves today want to join me???" I guess he got my text cursing him out last week because I couldn't walk. He was cracking up when I told him I had to wear heels all week, even when I was hanging out at home in my PJs.
Ok, today's menu!
Bfast:
Steamer - 3
Kashi waffles (I didn't make any pumpkin waffles this weekend!!!!) - 3
Lunch:
salad: baby spinach, 3 colors of pepers, pear, 1/2 oz feta, and a few cashews with ff dressing - 3
small piece of veggie sammy - 4
Snacks:
fruit salad - 1
yogurt - 2
Dinner:
Chicken and Pasta bake - 5
