Thorn Birded

I've been walking around with my head stuck in a book the past few days. I know... it's so unlike me. But when a coworker (turned friend... love that!) found out that I had my very own 'priest scandal' in my family she was both shocked and appalled (no, not that there had been a priest scandal in my family but...) that I'd never read or seen The Thorn Birds. It's a 500 some page epic novel and a lot of it is a little Jane Eyre-esque in that there are just full pages of descriptive stuff. I'm more into books for the dialogue. Let's be honest, 97.3% of the books I read are beach read romances. But I just skip over the descriptive stuff. I don't really need 6 pages on the weather patterns of Australia. But I digress...

Said friend told me to give it to page 100 and if I wasn't hooked then I was allowed to just watch the mini series. But alas, I got to page 100 and have been forging on ever since. I'm totally smitten with Father Ralph for those of you who do know the story. I'm on page 319 and am hoping to finish soon because it's due back at the library in a few days. Oh the pressure!

But moving onto to food and stuff. I finally (kind of) remembered to do weekend food pictures! I had some good eats. And by good I mean naughty! heehee. Check them out here if you feel so inclined.

Triathlon #1 is less than a month away. It's on June 27 to be exact. Eeekads. Let's move onto another topic before I stress myself out too much. (Have I mentioned I haven't been on my bike since FEBRUARY?)

Yesterday I went to Sonic for the first time. I've seen commercials for this place my entire life. They run tv ads in Philly even though there isn't a sonic within 50 miles of where I grew up. And then I moved south where there are plenty, but I was always scared/intimidated by it because I didn't know how the 'drive up' worked. But it was really quite fun. The server even brought the food to our car sporting some sweet roller skates.

Tonight I'm hitting up the Melting Pot for half price cheese and chocolate fondu. Be jealous. Be very jealous.

Boot Camp has been going well this week. I have mastered balancing on the swiss ball. It's so fun to be the best at something there. Because let's be honest, other than the swiss ball I'm still the slowest at a lot of the stuff we do (especially running). Remember the night I actually cried at boot camp because I was the weakest and slowest? Well I may still be the slowest but now I use the heaviest weights out of all the girls! It's an amazing feeling.

And as for TV, is anyone else as geeked up for this season of So You Think You Can Dance as I am? I love this summer time show. I can afford to have a 2 night TV show in the summer since there's nothing else on. So tonight, after I indulge in a healthy serving of fondu I'll be watching that. It doesn't get any better than this folks!

Takin It Back

Do any of you watch Survivor? I absolutely love that show. It's just so brilliant in so many ways. And yes, I was totally smitten with JT this season. I'm ready to move to Alabama and live on a cattle farm with him. Ha! But the real reason for the post is about Taj. (Speaking of, did anyone else realize that JT spelled her name TAG at one of the tribal councils? Hysterical).

So it said that Taj's career was "former pop star." On the finale Jeff mentioned she was a member of SWV (Sisters With Voices if I remember correctly). Do any of you remember them? Because as soon as he said it I totally started singing one of their songs. I was beyond obsessed with it back in like 6th or 7th grade. Anyway the song was called "Weak" and I just found it on YouTube. Makes me like Taj even more!

So am I the only person that remembers this song?

Quick Update

I had another GREAT day... though I seem to still be eating about 30 points a day, which seems like a lot. But I guess with my APs and flex points it's about right. I guess we'll see on Sat.

I did ok at the wine and cheese, estimated that I ate about 10 points worth of yummies, then met Ar at a sushi place and just got a cucumber roll which is only 2 points. I went STRAIGHT to the gym from there even though it was already 7:30. I was determined to get a workout in, even though I did NOT feel like going. I had cramps and was pooped. But I got there and did 20 minutes on the elliptical and then some strength training. Woohoo! EVEN did lunges and squats. What??? Got home, had a little snack, some hot tea and watched The Biggest Loser. Wasn't the most jam packed episode, but I still love it. And I LOVE Jillian. My favorite line was when Betty Sue said "Yes, I am going to die, and you're going to feel bad." And Jillian replied "No I'll be so proud, you'll be my first casualty!" HA! She kills me.

Ok, it's now time for bed. Hopefully tomorrow is another great day :)

Still Alive

Carrie gave me a little nudge the other day and emailed me asking where I was! Of course I hadn't blogged for a while because my eating had gotten WAY out of control!!

But I'm back on track and ready to discuss pumpkin!

To try to make a SUPER long story, somewhat short.... one of the volunteers from the membership drive at work last week found out that I liked pumpkin recipes. He had apparently just gone to the pumpkin capital of America and bought a bunch of baking pumpkins. So he told me he'd bring me one. I figured it would be fun to try to make my own pumpkin puree! I figured he forgot about it since the drive ended forever ago... and he never dropped it off. But no. I walked into work yesterday to find half of a MASSIVE pumpkin sitting on my desk. It was cut in half horizontally (I had the top half) and just HUGE. Ar estimates it was around 20-23 pounds.

So here's how I spent last night. I went to the gym (GO ME!), came home and made meatloaf with roasted veggies. While that was cooking I prepared the pumpkin to bake it. I had to cut it into 4 pieces to fit in the oven. Got that in the oven while we were eating dinner. After that Ar and I walked the pups. Then I got all the ingredients ready for pumpkin muffins while the pumpkin was still baking. After 90 minutes I took out the first quarter and peeled off the skin and pureed it. I used some of that for the muffins. (It wasn't even a WW recipe! It was REAL chocolate chip pumpkin muffins. I figured I'd just make them and bring them into work. Though I did substitute applesauce for the oil). While the muffins were baking I took out the rest of the pumpkin (it had baked for like 2 hours or so) cut, peeled and pureed it. It took FOREVER!!!! And now I have a MILLION cups of fresh pumpkin puree! Ha! I don't know that it tastes any better than Libby's canned stuff, but it was sort of cool to try. Though next time I'd do it with a MUCH smaller pumpkin. I have 3 containers in the freezer and then one in the fridge. Anyone want some fresh pumpkin????

Ok, so that story was still long. Sorry! Anyway, I was standing in the kitchen for like 3 hours straight doing all of that. So at least I wasn't sitting on my butt all night long. Plus the gym and a walk with the dogs. I was proud of myself! I also counted all of my points. Woohoo!

Crazy kitchen!

Last night I felt like I spent my whole night in the kitchen! I got home and made dinner, then cleaned up the dishes (from dinner and some from the night before), then I put my flowers into two vases and worked on arranging them (my boss got my flowers as a thank you for taking a lot of heat at work last week from listeners). After all of that, I started getting my crock pot dinner for tonight ready. Thai Chicken -- recipe to follow :) After that I made a batch of pumpkin waffles (recipe also to follow) and put them in the freezer so I'll have them for a quick snack!

It was lots of dishes (some of which didnt get done) but now I'm pretty set for the week. Which is exciting!

Other than that I've been trucking along. Tracking my points and hopefully will see another (small) loss this week.

Oh! And has anyone tried the Betty Crock Warm Delight minis? 3 points for a freshly 'baked' chocolate yummy??? Amazing! They were on sale this week so I bought a few. 3 points is not all that bad, and theyre individual serving sizes to help with portion control. After I ride tonight I plan on treating myself to one. I can't wait!

Keepin On

I'm just truckin along here on the Weight Watchers highway (lame reference, I know) and it feels good. In the past year or two I've fallen off the wagen after 2-3 weeks. So once I get through that and am still on track I'll feel really good! As of right now, its one day at a time.

I just ran to the store on my lunch (after letting out the pup of course) and got some stuff to make dinners for the week. I'm trying to start planning out my meals at the begining of the week (at least for dinner) so I dont get home on Wednesday night all hungry and think hmm whats for dinner? And then order pizza or something. So here's what I've decided so far....

Monday: Impossibly Easy Chicken Pot Pie (if you substitute 98% fat free cream of [anything] soup its 5 points for 1/4 of the recipe -- do you know how big that serving is???)
Tuesday: Chili in the crock pot (I even got crock pot liners -- cooking doesnt get any easier than a crock pot meal with no clean up!
Wednesday: WFAE softball game at 6:30, I've got some home made pizza in the fridge that will be heated up for dinner when we get home
Thursday: I have a meeting at Fuel Pizza and will get my FAVE salad and bring my own dressing (because I have no shame) and maybe some soup
Friday: I dont have anything planned for Friday yet. I figure leftovers :)

Now the test is to see if I can actually stick to the schedule. We shall see...

On an unrelated note the weather has been beautiful! Its currently 75 degrees -- can I tell you how nice that is after it being in the 100s for most of August?? Its prefect. We finally tuend off the central air and have fresh air cooling the house. It smells so nice to have the windows open, and its perfect sleeping weather. I love cuddling up under the covers with a cool breeze. YAY!

Ok, todays menu before I forget to post

Weigh In

Well I saw success this morning on the scale! 185.8... thats down 4.4 pounds!!! I'll take it! It always makes me a little nervous when I have a big loss though, as I need to stay on track that much more to make sure I see another loss next week.

The goal for today is to get in some APs, then I'm heading to Trader Joes, Babies R Us and Costco to run errands. Should be a good day.

I've been playing with my DVR all morning... I love it! I've already set the season pass for The Biggest Loser -- not to worry.

That's all I've got for today. I'm home alone with the pups this weekend as Ar found out at the last minute she had to go to Myrtle Beach to work the MS 150 down here. She'll be back tomorrow afternoon hopefully :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

No Pudge Heaven

I just had a no pudge brownie with light cool whip for a Friday afternoon treat. Two pints of pure delight. Its a good thing I just packed one to bring in my lunch as if I were at home I'm not sure I'd be able to stop at one brownie. Mmm Mmm good!

I've been keeping up with ww.com this week. Tracking everything. I've done well, though my APs are lacking for the week. I need to get back to that. Hopefully I'll get on the bike this weekend as its going to be great riding weather (85 on Sat and 75!!!!! on Sun).

Tonight I have a cocktail party at Morton's Steakhouse.... that could be trouble. But my looming weight in tomorrow morning should keep me on track! I have no idea what to expect, but I'm hoping there will be veggies that I can fill up on. We shall see...

In other un weight related SUPER exciting news....

WE GOT A DVR TODAY! No more missing good TV shows. Its going to change my life (which is sad, I know) and I couldnt be more excited!

Onto today's menu

One last thing

I forgot to mention that I'm SO beyond bummed that I have to miss the season premiere of The Biggest Loser tonight! And no... we dont have a DVR. And now that we have a new TV our TV that had a VCR attached is no longer hooked up to the cable box. Sooo theres really no way for me to tape it tonight. BUMMER, right?

So can someone PLEASE give me an update? Jillian coming back is beyond exciting :) I missed her last season.

Ok... glad I got that out there :)

Time to do this shit

Last night Arleigh and I were on our way to ceramics and she randomly was like, so I think you should try to get close to your goal weight this summer. To which I responded, "OK." Like she suggested I run to the store or make a pot of tea! haha. But she said that she'd start to try to go to the gym with me 2 or 3 mornings a week and make me do the Saturday group ride with her (which scares the bajesus out of me as I'm not confident enough to do group rides - aka IM SLOW!). Granted we've said that we'd go to the gym in the morning together before, but perhaps this time we actually will. Theres something so special about my sleep that just makes AM gym going seem impossible when the alarm goes off at 6am.

So I have 35 pounds to go (though who are we kidding... I'd be PUMPED with 25-30), if I average a 4 pound loss each month I should be well on my way by August.

Im going to try to hunker down (thats right, I just said hunker down) and do this! I'm the only person stopping myself. And the nice weather of recent has given me a second (or kajillionth, but really whos couting?) wind!

That being said, heres today menu:

Puffins w/ strawbs (shocker I know) - 2
Bite of a donut - 1
Akmak and laughing cow light - 2
Chili - 5
9 Grain bread - 2
Asian pear - 0
Apple - 1
Granolla Bar - 2
Meatloaf - 5
Rice - 3
Veggies - 0
Skinny Cow w/ strawberries - 2

Total Points: 25

And I will do some sort of cardio tonight as well. I need to start lifting again.... I think I'll take the next few days to get my eating etc on track, and focus on lifting in May.

Also... New Grey's tonight! That show makes me way too happy, its pathetic. I just told one of my friends it might be the hightlight of my week. ha! And then I told her that the highlight of my day is when I get to put on my PJs. Oh well, its the little things, right?

4.19.2007

Confessions....

I have some confessions from last night. I did good and went to the gym after work, only did 30 minutes on the elliptical but I burned 300 calories according to the machine so thats good. I ran home, had a meatball and piece of bread for a quick dinner and went to ceramics. I got home and was FAMISHED (shocking I know)!!!!! So I had some FULL FAT cheese and crackers. And by some I mean more than a serving... probably like 2.5 servings of cheese. But, it HIT THE SPOT. Even though it was 9:25. And then I had 3 little handfuls of kissables. So much for not eating after 9 last night. Oh well... still tried to track it all. I also did HORRIBLY with water yesterday.

But today is a new day! I still have 10 flexies for today and tomorrow... but I'm hoping not to use them all.

Bfast:
puffins w/ strawbs and milk - 2
Pistachios - 2

Lunch:
PB&J - 3
Veggie soup - 1
akmak - 1
apple 1

Snacks:
100 cal pack - 2
asian pear - 0
granolla bar - 1

Dinner (Ar is out of town for work so its just me):
grilled cheese (I know youve heard this the past 2 days -- tonight I'm really going to make and eat it!) - 4
2 pieces of center cut bacon - 2
fat free chips - 2
pickle - 0
strawberries - 1

Snack during 8:30 PM TV:
skinny cow ice cream sammy - 2

Total Points: 24 out of 24
APs: hopefully 2 - I want to do a quick workout again at the gym, cant stay too long as i have to get home to let Fiona out

As for the car, yesterdays disaster is over. Fixed up and paid for (well not the AC but everything else). I wish I had all of your helpful suggestions before I sold my first child to Honda. haha. But at least my car is good for now... I can live without AC. Will it suck? Hell yeah. But honestly, it could be a lot worse! And next time I have a car issue -- I'm asking all of you first!!! heehee :) Thanks for the encouraging words though!

Tonight I'm SO excited to just go home and relax! Last night I ran around from the second I got off work until the second I got in bed (including the 2 hours at ceramics). Tonight it will just be me, pup, perhaps a T-storm or two and Thursday night TV! And theres a new Grey's on tonight. YES! I also think I might do some baking. Which I know is perhaps setting myself up for failure, but I told someone at work that I'd bake this week... and the week is almost over! So we'll see how I'm feeling.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good week! It's almost the weekend :)

Lenten Thoughts - 40 Days of ???

I just wrote a whole long post about Lent and my thoughts on it and blah blah blah. And I closed the window because someone came in who needed to use my coputer and I thought it was saved and it wasnt. And now I'm annoyed haha. But I'll try to rewrite it now.

Yesterday Michelle posted a challenge about giving something up for the next 40 days.... It got me thinking. And growing up Catholic Ash Wednesday was always a dreaded day. From when I was so little that I dont remember til my Junior year in high school my family gave up TV for Lent. That meant no Cosby Show, no Growing Pains, no Saved by the Bell, no My So Called Life...later no Felicity, no Dawsons Creek, No Seinfeld, No Friends. Nada. Nothing. Instead we used the time to hang out as a family. When my brother and I were younger we'd pick a book each year to read out loud as a family (Fudge and Super Fudge by Judy Blume were 2 of the better ones we picked) when we got older we'd play board games (Yatzee is still a family favorite) or card games. Thinking back it was kind of nice. But let's also remember that the Oscars fall during Lent every year. I didnt actually see the Oscars until my Senior year of high school... which is just a crime if you ask me!

Also my birthday falls during Lent (or Easter weekend) every year. My 21st birthday was actually on Good Friday (though my brother decided it should be upgraded to GREAT Friday). So I wasnt allowed to eat meat OR eat in between meals. Then I went out and did a whole bunch of drinking.... BAD COMBINATION!!! My mom had a bunch of party trays ordered at the bar where we all congregated (since it was Easter weekend it was mostly my cousins and friends from home), but as we couldnt eat in between meals or eat meat my one cousins (who just happens to be a priest) issued the COUNTDOWN TO MEAT. So basically instead of a new years eve countdown to midnight we had a variation on that until midnight when we could bust out the meaty party trays. Insanity I tell you.

But I digress... all of this came from Michelles February challenge to give something up for the next 40 days (which just happens to coincide with lent). I generally try to either add something (like say do a day of service each week) or if I do give something up I try to add something in its place (if I were to give up chocolate put the money aside that I'd spend on it and donate it to a homeless shelter). But for the sake of the challenge I decided to look at this as solely a weight loss challenge. So this really wont have anything to do with my lenten 'sacrifice.'

After a lot of thinking I've deicded to give up FRENCH FRIES and BAKED GOODS. I'm also only going to allow myself to eat CHOCOLATE on days that I go to the GYM. So I'm not totally giving it up, but I have to work for it. Fair trade I think.

I do need to add a little disclaimer though that I will allow myself a few treats for my birthday. I won't go on a week long celebrating food fest... but I will allow myself 3 'freebies' that week. Be it cake, cookies or just chocolate and no gym I think thats an ok trade off. This way I'll still feel like I'm celebrating, but I wont go overboard.

It seems like a lot, but I really need something to get my ass in gear. My pants are way too tight. And I've been so annoyed with my lack of willpower lately. I think this will be a good time to just kick it all off! So thanks for posing the challenge Michelle! I'm so ready for it!

2.19.2007

Re-Evaluating

It's February 19. There are only 9 days left in February. And one of my February goals was to lose 6 pounds. So far I'm only down 0.6 pounds for Feburay. So unless I get horribly sick in the next few days thus preventing me from eating anything at all... it's not going to happen. So I'm just going to shoot for a 2.4 pound loss this week. That would bring me to a 3 pound loss for the month. Which I could totally deal with. Honestly I'll be happy with just having lossed at all during this crazy month! But I dont want to totally cop out of my challenege. And since I only have one more weigh in in Feb I'm shooting for a decent loss. And 2.4 pounds is totally doable... as long as I keep my mouth shut and keep my ass moving!

Of course we celebrated Feb bithdays today at our staff meeting. Which means cake. And I knew if I didnt have any at all I'd think about it all day and probably sneak a big piece later on in the afternoon. So I had a small piece and am counting all the points for it. Now I just need to make sure I get my butt on the trainer tonight during Jack Bauer hour!

Menu for today:

Breakfast:
oatmeal - 2
dry puffins - 1

Snack:
cake - 6

Lunch:
veggie soup - 1.5
whole grain baguette - 2.5
freeeee salad with ff dressing - 0

Snack:
100 cal pack - 2
apple - 1

Dinner:
meatloaf - 6
green beans - 0
sweet potato fries - 2

That leaves me with 0 points for a snack UNLESS I get on the trainer and ride. Then I'll allow myself a 2 point snack at night.

Here's hopin!

2.10.2007

Weigh In

Down exactly a pound this week! Which I'll totally take as a did sort of have a bit more dessert last night at game night than I had planned on. I also got up this morning at 7:30 and met Lily at the Y. We took an X-bike class (which TOTALLY kicked my ass) and then took a yoga class. And then (and this is the best part) I found out that she has a Costco membership and we went there! Where I spent a bit more money than I should have but there were such amazing deals it was crazy!! So now I have all sorts of food in bulk that I dont have anywhere to put, but oh well :)

I'm back in my PJs now being a total bum. I figure since I got up and worked out for 2 hours I'm allowed to be a bum for a while. heehee. I'm watching the Hallmark channel. LOVE IT!

2.06.2007

Sleepy

I'm super tired today. Too many nights of staying up late and getting up early have finally caught up with me. Tonight I'm volunteering at crisis center (organizing donated clothes) and hope to be home by 8:30 and in my PJs, watching 24 from last night. And then in BED!

Yesterday I did really well. Despite the fact that I had a piece of chocolate cake at work (they leftover cake from the shower... it was still good 2 days later haha). But I tracked everything and just cut out my snacking and still stayed within my points and wasnt ever starving whcih was great.

I got a good workout in this morning. Just did weights with trainer George. He didnt kick my butt too much... but not to worry I'll be feeling it tomorrow! I meet with him again on Thurs and then next Tues.

The show last night was awesome! If you arent familiar with Savion Glover check this out... its a little long but you can get how talented he is just from the first few seconds!

Yoga

Ive had quite the busy week... and its only continuing. But its a good busy, with fun stuff after work that I look forward to doing.

Last night I didnt end up going out to dinner (thats rescheduled for Thurs) so I went to step class after work and then went straight to the yoga class. I am quite the beginner at yoga, but I did really enjoy it. The teacher was great -- didnt take herself or the class too seriously and was able to have fun with us, but still keep the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. I think I might try to make it to a class or two at my gym each week. (Even though this class was in an actual yoga studio so it was probably a lot more quiet and relaxing than it will be at the gym).

Not much to talk about today. I've been doing good.. tracking everything I eat... getting so exercise in. But I've been crappy with the water intake. Its really hard when its cold out. Maybe thats a cop out excuse, but its the truth! I havent peed yet today and its 3:11... that is NOT good. I should have peed like 3 times already. (TMI? heehee)

Tonight I'm hoping to get to spinning (and actually have all the right clothes in my bag) and then we're going over to a friends house for dinner (allegedly its make your own pizza - but im not sure on all the details) and board games. Should be a fun night!

Oh - and I finally watched 24. I feel like it was one of those filler episodes to just sort of connect two really good ones. So hopefully next weeks will be all sorts of action packed!

Gym Bag Woes

Let's rewind a bit to Sunday night, shall we? I got in bed around 11:30. I tossed and turned for what seemed like the entire night. And one of the things that I thought of while not sleeping was that I packed the wrong clothes in my gym bag and that I had to remember first thing Monday morning to switch them (I packed clothes as if I was going to step class, but Monday is a spinning night and I wanted to pack my spandex and then pants that fit nicely over my sweet ass padded spandex shorts - doesnt get any hotter than that I tell you ha!). So first thing Monday morning I grabbed my bag, took out the stuff in it and got my spinning clothes together. Whew! Ok...

I continued my morning whirlwind routine (I generally only give myself about 20 minutes in the morning [including a shower, geting dressed and either making tea or a smoothie] thus act like a hurricane sweeping through the apartment...). I grabbed everything, hopped in the car and headed off to work. And then remembered that my gym bag was still sitting by the door. I was only about a block away from home so I turned around (even though I was already running late), went home, had to turn off the car as my house key was on the same keychain grabbed my bag, jumped back in my car and headed out to work. Whew! Ok...

So dodged those two bullets and I'd still be able to get to spinning after work. YAY!

After work I jumped in the car and was off to the gym. I geo there, started getting changed... and found myself standing in the locker room half naked only to realize that THERE ARE NO CLOTHES IN MY GYM BAG!!! Just a pair of sneaks and a sweatshirt. Yup... I got OUT my clothes for spinning... but they didnt quite make it to the bag. So I turned a bright shade of red as I felt a little silly. Put my work clothes back on. And walked right out of the gym. I realized that clearly someone in the universe did NOT want me to work out yesterday. So I said F it. And went home to find my spinning clothes sitting on top of the dresser! (Though I did get some stuff done at home- I called Bell South and yelled at them because my bill was wrong, and got some stuff straightened out with Geico as they had the wrong registration for my car).

But today I have my bag all packed. I'm actually going out to dinner after work... and then going to a yoga class which should be interesting, but in a fun way!

I did stay within my points yesterday, but my water was lacking a little.

I'm determined to have a good day today... heres my menu:

Breakfast:
3 pieces of chocolate (woops!) - 3
life cereal - 2

Lunch:
veggie soup - 1
apple - 1
akmak - 1

Snack:
smoothie - 3
100 cal pack - 2

Dinner (going out for sushi):
cucumber roll - 3
california roll - 3
miso soup - 2

APs:
Yoga - 2

I did NOT get to watch Jack Bauer save the world (again) last night. But I have it all taped (on VHS cause I'm old school like that) and plan on watching it tonight as soon as I get home. (And Michelle... I'm impressed that you were even near a computer during 24. I generally need the commercial breaks to take a few deep breathes and call my friends to squeal about all the action and shockers etc, etc. So yeah... nice work on that :) )

And if you havent signed up for the Feb Challenge yet... DO IT NOW! Its a good time, I promise.

Steady On

Shawn Colvin's Steady On just came on WFAE-2's digital channel. Which I listen to at work (shh don't tell my boss, but I'm not a huge fan of NPR talk radio. I enjoy it in small pieces... but for 8 hours a day this girl needs some tunes!) And I absolutely adore this song... and the title just seemed appropriate... because thats the goal here. To just get into a steady routine and get this weight loss thing going! Once I have 2 or 3 good weeks under my belt then I can usually go into autopilot. So I just need to tucker down through Feb and hopefully I'll get into a good routine!

Here are the lyrics from Steady On
(only the steady on part really has anything to do with my post heehee)
China gets broken
And it will never be the same
Boats on the ocean
Find their way back again
I am weaving
Like a drunkard
Like a balloon up in the air
I am needing a puncture and someone
To point me somewhere
I'm gonna keep my head on straight
I just hope it's not too late
Open up the gate
I go straight on, steady on
Steady on...
I was feeling imploded
A wooden smile, a wooden heart
The things exploded
Like rockets in the dark
Now I'm pulling out splinters
And I'm off to hibernate somewhere
For the nuclear winter
Of another love affair'
Cause he seemed like a miracle
I ate it up like cereal
But it was something like shrapnel
Steady On...
It's like ten miles of a two-lane
On a South Dakota wheat plain
In the middle of a hard rain
A slow boat or a fast train
I am gonna keep my head on straight
I'm gonna keep my head on straight
Go steady on...
