The Universe Is Telling me Something

I went out to lunch with a bunch of people from work on Wednesday. I said "screw it" to the healthy lunch I'd packed, and even to my 40 day challenge of no french fries and ordered a hamburger and fries. It was good...

But I got back to my desk and literally within 15 minutes was a mess. I was light-headed and dizzy and felt like I was going to faint. I felt naseous. And I felt like I had a fever. Luckily I was emailing one of my friends and she said she'd come get me as I was in no shape to drive. I got home fell into bed, where I slept for 3.5 straight hours. I woke up still feeling dizzy and sick but CRAVING a brownie and ginger ale. And not the diet variety. Ar stopped and got 2 bottles of ginger ale on her way home from work, and around 8:30 PM we decided to venture out to Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins for something chocolatey. As that was all I thought I could keep down. Most people want scrambled eggs and toast... I want chocolate.

I got some horrible milk shake that I drank 5 sips of, and then we got 25 munchkins both chocolate and glazed. They hit the spot. I ate a few the other night and then a few more yesterday. And by a few I mean that of the 25 I think there are 3 left in the box. (Though Ar did have 5 or 6 of them at least....).

Anyway... I'm finally feeling better today. And I think I get that the entire universe is trying to tell me something. STOP EATING LIKE CRAP! I dont think its a coincidence that I ate french fries (and a cheese burger) and was violently ill less than an hour later. So today I'm back on track. Hopefully my little donut-fest wont do too much damage as I really didnt eat much else yesterday.

I'm back on the no-fry, no baked goods plan as of today. I majorly slipped up a bit there, but I'm starting fresh today!

Oh! And I have to thank my awesome February partner Carrie for my present!!! She sent me the CUTEST dream journal and some chocolate treats (which I also housed yesterday when I got the package). And I must say she seems to be kicking some MAJOR ass in March.... getting up at 5am and hitting the gym. Keep up the good work Carrie!

We're going out for sushi tonight, so I should be able to have a somewhat healthy dinner. I'm excited for Miso soup and some veggie rolls!

Weigh In and Weekend Munchies

Theres good news and bad news. I'll start with the bad.... I ate horribly this weekend. Way too many treats and snacks and chocolate and not nearly enough of anything else! I broke my 40 day 'lenten' challenge. I had baked goods. I had chocolate and didnt go to the gym. Though I'm still holding strong on french fries... But I'm not letting it side track me. I had a bad weekend (well really it was just Sunday, Saturday I tracked and did ok), but if I get back on track today I should be ok.

Oh! There was good news too though! I was down 2.2 pounds on Saturday morning when I weighed in!!! So my March challenge of seeing a loss each week is going well so far! The true test is to see if I make it to the gym tomorrow morning.

But I had a bit of a reality check this weekend. My thighs are huge. My pants fit fine in the waist (ok maybe not FINE, but its not super uncomfortable) but my thighs are all of a sudden too big! Like my pants wont go all the way up. Its horrible. And I refuse to buy a bigger size pants. So... I need to get my butt (and thighs) in motion. Not to mention that bathing suit season is literally right around the corner. Eeekas!

So lets just hope that I can get everything together this week and have another loss on Saturday. The only risky thing I'll encounter is going out to dinner on Thursday for burgers. But I hope to go to the gym in the AM and then yoga before burgers. So I'll have plenty of APs.

On the menu today:

Bfast:
Fiber one Honey Clusters (1 cup) - 1
Milk - 1
banana - 1.5

Lunch:
lean cuisine - 6
smoothie - 3

Snacks:
apple - 1
strawberries - .5
Fiber One Peanut Butter bar - 2

Dinner:
meatloaf - 6
potato - 3
string beans - 0

Snack:
skinny cow ice cream sammy - 2

Points Goal: 24
Total Points: 27
Total APs: 5 (spinning)
Flex Used: 0

Weekly Weigh In

It was actually yesterday... but I didnt feel like posting about it yesterday. So I just put it off until today. I stepped on the scale yesterday to a lovely gain. Ugh! Annoying, but again what did I really expect? I was up 0.4 pounds. Not too shabby considering the week I had... but a gain is a gain ya know?

Either way it's ok because I feel like this is going to be a good week. I did great yesterday, got 6 APs and counted EVERYTHING I ate... I used some flex points but nothing horrible. Today I made pancakes for breakfast and just had a tiny one. I usually have about 6 or 7 'tiny' ones. And I had 2 pieces of bacon. I'll probably have some cereal later as I'm not all that full, but I'm just proud that I made pancakes for Ar and didnt sabotage myself while doing it!

Ar is back in bed and I think I'm going to go to the gym! How very good of me, right? heehee.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Ohhh and last night's dessert was really good! Ingredients were eggroll wrappers, fat free/sugar free lemon pudding, lemon zest, honey, cool whip light and something else... and it was delish! As soon as I get the recipe I'll pass it along!

Fiber One

Ok.... I'm not a fan of Fiber One. Its just not something I think is all that yummy for breakfast. But in the past week I have been bombarded by the new Fiber One Oats & Chocolate bars. First Sarah posted about it, then Hungry Girl did a little write up about them, then today I was at the foodstore and there was a BIG HUGE display of them. So I gave in. I bought them. And I just ate one. And I have to say that both Sarah and Hungry Girl were right! They are DELICIOUS! I just finished eating one and I'm tempted to go grab another. But... the unfortunate thing is that there are only 5 bars in a box, so thats a bummer. I feel like at least make it an even 6, ya know? But I will most certainly be throwing these guys in my lunches this week. And they have NINE, yup NINE, grams of fiber. Honestly its true love right here.

So if youre like me and dont like the cereal... give the bars a try. Honestly they have chocolate in them, how bad could it be? (And not to worry, I went to the gym this morning so I can technically eat chocolate... though I think that since these arent ALL chocolate I could slide with eating them on a non gym day... thoughts?)

On to the 40 day challenge... I've been doing good! So far no fries or baked goods. We're having some people over for dinner tonight and Lily was going to bring a chocolate raspberry cake. Which pretty much sounds like my own personal heaven. But I was good and I told her that that was perfect to bring but not to be offended because I had given up baked goods for Lent (which is sort of a cop out... I gave up baked goods because my ass is getting bigger and bigger by the minute...), but regardless I told her that I wouldnt be having any. I also told her I was back to really doing Weight Watchers (be proud... shes a new friend that I've made within the last month, so for me to already openly tell her that I'm doing WW is big for me), and she was so cute and said shed bring something a little less heavy that doesnt require baking so I could have it. Too cute. Shes brining some sort of lemon napoleon and she has assured me that all of the ingredients are fat free! I asked her to bring the recipe a) so I can figure out the points and b) so I can pass it on if its yummy and diet friendly!

As for my weigh in... I'll post about that later. Gotta finish cleaning the house!

So far... so good

I've been good so far today! I think this might by my first totally on point day... in FEBRUARY! Oh man that is pitiful. But why not start today, right?

Lets back up to last night though. BIG, EXCITING stuff. We purchased a washer and dryer. This means no more going to our friends house and lugging our kajillion loads of laundry there as well. No more laundry mat! And maybe the most exciting... no more piles and piles of laundry all over the bedroom because we didnt make it to our friend's house or the laundry mat that weekend. I am so super excited. It's coming on Monday. I cannot wait. I'm totally going to Costco this weekend to stock up on Tide. ha! Any excuse to go to Costco. (And I have no idea if this is the actual washer and dryer we got... but it looks kind of like it and I wanted a pretty picture up here just because I'm that excited)

But after we made that big exciting purchase last night we went to the Olive Garden for dinner. Not so great. Well the food was great but I ate a bit too much. I was ravenous as it was 8:30 and we hadnt had dinner yet... it was ugly. And that was that.

So now that I confessed we can move on to today. I went out to lunch and was good. I got a salad with dressing on the side and no cheese. Though of course they forgot the no cheese part... so I scraped as much off as possible (which pained me greatly as I love me some feta cheese on a salad) and counted what was left as a point. Heres the full breakdown of today

Bfast:
dry puffins - 1

Lunch:
croutons - 2
dressing - 2
feta cheese (damn the waiter) - 1
tomato soup - 3
Snack:
100 cal pack popcorn - 1
apple - 1

Dinner:
salmon - 6
rice - 3
brocolli - 0
Snack:
not sure... something for 3 points though

I weigh in tomorrow. I have a feeling I'm going to be up. Which makes me want to cry. But again... eating like crap and not working out isnt going to make the pounds go away. It just doenst work that way. Though wouldnt it be fun if it did! But if I can get through today and not go over 24 points... I think that will be a great kick off to next week.

As for the 40 day challenge so far its gone well. I havent had any baked goods or fries (though 2 people at lunch today had fries and they looked simply amazing...). I have had some chocolate (chocolate covered strawberries at our friends house for dinner the other night) without going to the gym. But somehow it seemed ok since it was on a fruit.... right?

Lenten Thoughts - 40 Days of ???

I just wrote a whole long post about Lent and my thoughts on it and blah blah blah. And I closed the window because someone came in who needed to use my coputer and I thought it was saved and it wasnt. And now I'm annoyed haha. But I'll try to rewrite it now.

Yesterday Michelle posted a challenge about giving something up for the next 40 days.... It got me thinking. And growing up Catholic Ash Wednesday was always a dreaded day. From when I was so little that I dont remember til my Junior year in high school my family gave up TV for Lent. That meant no Cosby Show, no Growing Pains, no Saved by the Bell, no My So Called Life...later no Felicity, no Dawsons Creek, No Seinfeld, No Friends. Nada. Nothing. Instead we used the time to hang out as a family. When my brother and I were younger we'd pick a book each year to read out loud as a family (Fudge and Super Fudge by Judy Blume were 2 of the better ones we picked) when we got older we'd play board games (Yatzee is still a family favorite) or card games. Thinking back it was kind of nice. But let's also remember that the Oscars fall during Lent every year. I didnt actually see the Oscars until my Senior year of high school... which is just a crime if you ask me!

Also my birthday falls during Lent (or Easter weekend) every year. My 21st birthday was actually on Good Friday (though my brother decided it should be upgraded to GREAT Friday). So I wasnt allowed to eat meat OR eat in between meals. Then I went out and did a whole bunch of drinking.... BAD COMBINATION!!! My mom had a bunch of party trays ordered at the bar where we all congregated (since it was Easter weekend it was mostly my cousins and friends from home), but as we couldnt eat in between meals or eat meat my one cousins (who just happens to be a priest) issued the COUNTDOWN TO MEAT. So basically instead of a new years eve countdown to midnight we had a variation on that until midnight when we could bust out the meaty party trays. Insanity I tell you.

But I digress... all of this came from Michelles February challenge to give something up for the next 40 days (which just happens to coincide with lent). I generally try to either add something (like say do a day of service each week) or if I do give something up I try to add something in its place (if I were to give up chocolate put the money aside that I'd spend on it and donate it to a homeless shelter). But for the sake of the challenge I decided to look at this as solely a weight loss challenge. So this really wont have anything to do with my lenten 'sacrifice.'

After a lot of thinking I've deicded to give up FRENCH FRIES and BAKED GOODS. I'm also only going to allow myself to eat CHOCOLATE on days that I go to the GYM. So I'm not totally giving it up, but I have to work for it. Fair trade I think.

I do need to add a little disclaimer though that I will allow myself a few treats for my birthday. I won't go on a week long celebrating food fest... but I will allow myself 3 'freebies' that week. Be it cake, cookies or just chocolate and no gym I think thats an ok trade off. This way I'll still feel like I'm celebrating, but I wont go overboard.

It seems like a lot, but I really need something to get my ass in gear. My pants are way too tight. And I've been so annoyed with my lack of willpower lately. I think this will be a good time to just kick it all off! So thanks for posing the challenge Michelle! I'm so ready for it!
