Really Doing This

I think one of the reasons I might be neglecting my blog so much is because I'm not really all that crazed about eating right and my weekly weigh ins right now. I'm just kind of doing it. I'm certainly not perfect, nor at my overall goal weight. But I am actually happy with my body. I have MUSCLES. Yes, if I flex my arms there's actually muscle there. I still have big thighs, but you know what? I think I'm always going to have big thighs. Such is life. But today I was in the middle of cleaning and looked up in the bathroom mirror and thought, "damn I look good." Now you guys know me... I do NOT ever think that. And I wasn't even decked out! I was cleaning the bathroom! But I'd gone out this morning so my hair was curly and I had make up on, and was wearing a white tank top and black (pajama-esque) shorts and I have a little tan going on and I just felt good. And that's what I saw in the mirror. And I can't even tell you what a great feeling it was!

So yes, I have off days (like today) where I eat crap. But I also have good days (like yesterday) where I eat quite well. And during most of those good or bad days I work out. And it all sort of just balances out. I've been at the same weight now for a year. But my clothes definitely fit better this summer than they did last. So one would assume I've lost some fat and gained some muscle. Which is why I've not been hopping on the scale as much. I'm just doing this based on how I feel this time around and it's working for me. So I'm going with it!

Moving along... I've had a fun weekend! Yesterday was a busy day! I got up and went to boot camp. It was so hot at 9am... I was dripping sweat like nobodys business! Ew! After that I stopped at Lowes on my way home to get some veggie plants! (Yes, I went to Lowes straight from my workout all smelly and gross). I got some tomato plants, pepper plants and planted cucumer seeds (hopefully they make it). But the veggie garden was a mess of weeds so I spent a good 2 hours cleaning everything out before I planted anything. I got some color on my back (I wore a halter to prevent tan lines heehee) and a second workout! Because I was dripping sweat again working out there! But I got the weeds out, turned the soil, and got some new dirt in there too. Hopefully my veggies will do as well this year as they did last! After that I hit up the grocery store and then came home to shower and get ready to go out. Went on a date but as much as he seems like a nice guy, he's just not the guy for me. Literally in 4 hours I didn't laugh once. Unacceptable! So back to square one we go :)

Today was perfect in so many ways. I was up at 8 and got ready for brunch at a friend's house. I made monkey bread and we ate a whole lot of carbs... but delicious carbs! All kinds of breads and casseroles. There was fruit salad, and that's the only thing I had seconds of, but I surely ate too much. I got home around 2 and was out in the backyard working on the front part of my tan by 2:30. I was all hooked up. I had a fan oscillating on me, a spray bottle to spritz myself with cold water, and my iPod hooked up to some computer speakers so I could jam while I relaxed. And as always a tall glass of ice water and a pup beside me. Here are three views. #1 - my legs, #1 - Maddie laying beside me and #3 - the tree in my backyard and a picture perfect sky

Around 4ish I went back inside to get some work done. I did 2 loads of laundry. Sweapt, mopped and vacuumed the downstairs floors. Made meatloaf, cut up all of my fruit for the week and also made pasta with sauce and veggies for the week. I also cleaned the bathroom, but you knew that already. Then I had some leftover monkey bread for dinner. And it was heavenly. (Yup, I had a carb loaded brunch and monkey bread for dinner... and that's it. Told you today was a bad one!) And finally around 7ish I sat down to just relax and watch some TV.

Whew! This post was much longer than I anticipated -- so if anyone's still reading thanks! I'm off to bed now before I go eat MORE leftover monkey bread!

Beyond Randomness

I feel as though every post I've written recently has start with "I'm such a blog slacker" ... or something along the same lines. And once again, here I am claiming the same thing. It happens.

And since my favorite blog style these days has also been to get all bulleted on you, that's what's in store today!
  • While neglecting this blog, I did write a fun post for my cousin's site about kale chips. WW friendly. Cheap. And you totally feel like you're eating something naughty. Check it out.
  • On Wed I decided to take a super unscheduled trip home to PA this weekend. Tomorrow morning I'm hopping in the car at 5:30am, driving 8 hours, drinking lots of caffeine, making myself pretty upon arrival, going to my cousin's baby's first bday party, then going to my 10 year high school reunion. I won't lie - I'm a little bit scared about the reunion. I don't really keep in touch with people all that well and it's been about 10 years since I've seen most of these people. YIKES! Sunday I'll sleep in, hang out a bit and head back in the car for 8 hours. Whew.
  • Last night at boot camp we had to kneel on the Stability Ball for 60 seconds. It was hysterical the first time I tried, but by the second time I was able to do it! My entire lower body hurts from it today though. You really use ALL of your muscles for it. I looked a little less composed than this lady
  • While googling the last image I came across this, and I want it.
  • I had a milkshake for lunch today. There I said it. It's out in the open. And you know what? It was everything I dreamed it would be and more. Now a salad for dinner and I should be ok.
  • I registered for 2 classes this morning. Did I tell you guys I'm going back to school? Well if I didn't I am. To become a middle grades math teacher. Heaven help me. I'll be taking definitive math and statistics this summer. Heaven help me again.
  • I'm more excited than I should be about the prospect of 'back to school' shopping. Pencils, calculators, spiral bound 5 star notebooks, and maybe even a binder!
  • This day seems a bit never ending
  • I went on a date with a boy on Friday night. Then I went on another date with the same boy on Saturday night and met some of his friends. There's potential... but he's been out of town all week. We shall see!
  • I've been dog sitting for a friend's dog for the past 8 days. Is it wrong that I'm ready for the not so well trained dog to go home? I mean, she woke me up puking at 3am this morning because she ATE half of a softball. Who knew they were cork inside?
  • I went to Orlando a few weeks ago with the fam. We had such a fun time! My mom and I swam with the dolphins. Here's me and Coral hanging out (or making out, whatever).
  • The rest of the pictures from my trip are here. Note the ones of me wearing shorts (this was taken just for proof that I actually wore shorts).
  • I've worn makeup to work 4 out of 5 days this week. That might be a record for me.
Ok, I think that sums up most of my randomness for today. Who knows, maybe I'll get my act together and write ANOTHER post before the end of May. That would just be sheer madness.

Happy Weekending!

Steak, Haircut, Produce and more!

Ok first let's get my weekend eating out in the open. It was dreadful!!! I am actually EXCITED to eat lots of fruits and veggies tomorrow as I don't think I've eaten any all weekend. Unacceptable!! But let's move on to more exciting things. I'll bullet it to (try to) keep it short.
  • I invited the boy over for dinner the other night. I made steak.... yes that's right me who's hated steak her whole life bought it, prepared it, cooked it.. and ATE it on Friday night. I did steak, asparagus and potatoes on the grill. No clean up and if you ask me quite a man's meal. I think it went well... but you never can tell with boys!
  • I got my hair cut on Saturday. It's a little bit shorter in the front that I thought it would be, but it'll grow out a bit and it's just hair so I'm not all that bent out of shape. I even thought to do a before and after! (Let's all just pretend these are charming, adorable pictures of me... and not unshowered, Saturday morning self portraits. Ok? Ok.)

(it's really hard to take a picture of the back of your head!!)
  • I also got an iPhone on Saturday!! And some new glasses for the kitchen. I've only ever had like plastic tumblers or pint glasses from bars. Never a real set of glasses. Well I was at Pier One and they had nice glasses for 2 bucks each! I got 6 and I love them!
  • I babysat on Saturday night. Henry (who just turned 3) and his new baby brother! He was born on Jan 8 so he's just over a month old... like 6 weeks I guess. He was an angel and it was great to get some kid time in (and make money!) Talk about a nice Valentine's day!
  • I went to a new grocery store today. It's called Compare... I don't really know how to explain it. I always thought it was a really low end store... because they're usually in not the best neighborhoods. So my friend took me there today and oh my god... the produce there is crazy! They had all kinds of stuff I've ever even heard of and it was so fresh and cheap! I got avocados for 99 cents! And they look good! I'm totally sold on getting my produce there... everything else I'll still probably go to the 'high end' store for.
  • Oh! My cousin launched a new website. It's totally awesome (and I'll most likely be putting up recipes on it). It's called all-abode.com... here's what she said about it: "So I've decided to incorporate my organizing with these fun household tips. Bud, the recipe for the fabric softener alternative is up there, the great disinfectant for cleaning vomit (cat, dog, kid) is there, a recipe for an awesome soup I made. All up there."
  • Speaking of all-abode (I love that name!)... I made one of the recipes tonight! I actually have the cook book it's from but never made the recipe. It's a homemade granola. Oh my goodness... the whole house smelled yummy while it baked and it's delicious! Look for it in my meals this week. Believe me, you'll be seeing a lot of it!
Ok... I'm sure there is more but it's time for bed! My office doesn't celebrate the presidents so I have to work tomorrow. I've got a great lunch all packed and ready though... I'm back on track starting NOW! (Speaking of I was down this week. 174.6 baby!!)

2.04.2009

Success!

  1. I was 100% chocoalte free today... and I didn't die!!!
  2. I had yummy Pad Thai for dinner ... but I got it with tofu instead of chicken AND have tons of leftovers
  3. Slumdog Millionaire is AWESOME. Go see it. Now. Then get the soundtrack.
  4. Date #3 went well :)
Now it's time for BED

Laughable

That's what I'd call the 'snow' here this morning. I didn't even know it was going to snow... but when I went to let Maddie out this morning this is what I saw:
(don't mind Maddie peeing)

You can still see the grass!!!! But alas I got to work and no one was here. Everyone was 'waiting an hour or so' to 'give the roads time to dry' Are you kidding? Also.... SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED! No 2 hour delay... but CLOSED! It's totally ludicrous. Here's an article in the Charlotte Observer about the 'treacherous conditions'... It's just so absurd to me. Oh how the south makes me laugh.

Though it is kind of crazy - on Sat I was wearing capris and a tank top and today the high is only going to be 35. Seems like tomorrow will be cold again and then we're back in the 50s and 60s. That's more like it!

I've been tracking points all week... just slacking in posting my menus. I have 11 Flex Points left and 12 APs... so I should be ok. I'm hoping to not use all my APs.

Today's menu looks like this (I'll be posting pictures here)...

Breakfast:
2 whole wheat waffles - 4

Snack:
small piece of sugar free angel cake from break froom - 1

Lunch:
1 light string cheese - 1
Multigrain wheat thins - 2
Bell Pepper tomato soup - 1
apple - 1

Snacks:
strawberries, blackberries and pineapple - 1
rice cakes - 1
motts plus applesauce - 0

Dinner:
Not sure yet -- I'll grab something quick (maybe eggs or a LC) before I go on date #3 (yay!). We're going to see Slumdog Millionaire and I'm so excited! I've heard rave reviews and just love going to the movie theater. I rarely do it so it will be quite a treat. Hopefully it goes well.

Off to drink some tea... my hands are like ice!

Short and Sweet

Most of my eats for the day are posted here. Other than mindlessly eating some trail mix I did pretty well! No work out today though... but back to some hard core boot camp tomorrow so I'm not all that worried.

I didn't really have a choice in where I was going to dinner. It was a first date with a guy from eHarmony and I told him he had to pick the place (I hate making decisions). He chose Italian. Both good and bad. Good because it was close to my house and well who doesn't like Italian? Bad because uhh not too healthy.

Let's start with the small victories. I got my dressing for the house salad on the side. I just got the house balsamic. And didn't really even end up using much -- just dipped in it. The salad (minus the 1/4 tsp of dressing) was totally free. Pretty much just iceberg lettuce and one piece of tomato. It was a funny salad. Also, and this is a huge also, I didn't eat any bread!!!! This is usually my downfall. I can't resist bread but I did tonight. I knew my meal would be more than filling.

For my entree I got the following:
Capellini Primavera
Sautéed zucchini and other vegetables with a light cream sauce over angel hair pasta

I was trying to steer clear of a cream sauce but it was pretty hard. There really were not all that many healthy choices on this menu! So I figured at least this one had veggies. It was heavenly. Though not nearly as heavy on the veggies as I'd like. The serving was massive. I ate about 1/3 of it and stopped when I was full. Also a major victory. I can probably get 2 more meals out of the leftovers. I figure I'll have some for dinner tomorrow night and most likely throw the rest out. I don't need to be eating THAT much cream sauce... even if it is 'light' ha! I estimated my dinner to be 12 points. It's a total estimate but I figure since I only ate 1/3 that means the whole dish would be 36 points which seems to be an ok estimate. Even with a 12 point dinner I still only used 4 flex points. I still have plenty for the week. I LOVE when I'm on plan on the weekends. Just makes it that much easier to keep up the good work during the week.

And also... the date went well :)

In other news I get to sleep in a bit tomorrow because I have an appt at the derm tomorrow at 9.15. So instead of leaving the house at 8:15 I get to leave at 8:45. Score!

... I titled this Short and Sweet because I thought it was going to be a quick post. It totally wasnt. Sorry for the false advertisement.

Day Two

So far so good! It's 7.23 and I still have 3 points left. What is going on? Why does this seem - dare I say it - somewhat easy? I mean I never have 3 points left after dinner. I only get 23 points a day people!

Granted I was going light today because I was supposed to go out tonight (but the stupid boy got sick and canceled on me grrrr) but instead of going crazy I still had a somewhat well balanced meal! Menu for today looks like this:

Bfast:
High Fiber Quaker Oats (Maple and Brown Sugar) - 3
Tea w/ honey - 1

Snack:
Homemade trail mix - 3

Lunch:
Lean Cuisine Stuffed Rigatoni (love this one!) - 4.5
2 clementines - 0.5
Motts Plus Applesauce - 0

Snack:
ONE piece of chocolate (I JUST HAD ONE!) - 1

Dinner (very random):
chicken cake - 2
Light Flat Out wrap w/ 2 slices light cheese toasted - 3
fried egg - 2

Snack (since I still have 3 points):
1 pb ball - 2
light hot chocolate w/ ff whipped cream - 1

Also - random victory. I was unpacking my lunch bag (the stuff I didn't eat) when I got home from work and there was a 1 point WW choc pb bar in there. I mindlessly opened it and almost took a bite when I realized a) I wasnt hungry and b) I really didn't want it! So I just threw it out! I know, amazing.

Two Days in a Row???

I heart TFA (aka boot camp). Quad explosion 1 was tonight's workout. And 5 minutes into it my quads were screaming! Squats with med balls, core work, crazy lunges with a twist, some foot work on the ladder... all sorts of good stuff. I'm so excited about session 2! I'm still slow (ok the slowest) but I don't even care anymore. It's not about being the best... its doing MY best. So there. How was that for corny ha!

I also was totally carb free after 5pm tonight! I made a little taco thingy for dinner. Just ground beef, taco seasoning, sauteed peppers and onions, then topped with tomato (from the garden!), some RF cheese and light sour cream. Delish and filling. I had frozen blueberries with a splash of milk for 'dessert' since I'm not allowd to have sweets. TBs GF recomended it and at first I wasnt feeling it but by the end I was diggin it. AND I didn't feel guilty. Wooo!

My week is about to get crazy ... and fast! Tomorrow night I have boot camp, then home to walk the pup, then dinner. By the time all of that is over it's 8pm. Then I have to pack (FOR CANCUN, I know woe is me). Wednesday night I'm going to see So You Think You Can Dance on tour. I know. I can't believe I'm going either. And I'm going WITH MY BOSS! She loves the show too so we bought tickets. Hysterical. It should be a fun night. And Thursday night I'm going out with the boy. It's a whole long story about why I'm not sure he's into me (and might have to do with the fact that until now I've only dated girls... yeah that was fun to tell him haha) but I sucked it up and texted him to see ifhe wanted to hang out and I got a "sounds good" response so I'll take it. We shall see what happens. Then Fri morning I'll be hopping a plane to Cancun. And MAYBE being in the 160s? I'll have to be SUPER good until then but I'm trying my best!

One more thing -- my BFF from 1st grade and I started a food blog a while ago. We've been SLACKERS about posting on it but she's determinded to be a good blogger and is new to this whole world soooo maybe you could go comment? Come on you know you want to! She's trying ot get back on the weight loss wagon and ya'll are so supportive so share the love!

Thats all I got. I'm going to read a bit (have any of you read the Stephenie Meyer books? I'm starting Twilight) and then get to BED.

11.09.2008

A Hodgepodge

I've been bad a posting recently. But figured I should get an update!! So here goes....
  • Lost another 0.2 (171.8) this week. It's not much but I was just pumped I kept off last week's loss!
  • I have to be SUPER good this week because I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to see 160 something on the scale before I leave for Cancun (Fri Morning!!)
  • I'm doing another 6 weeks of BOOT CAMP! (Which will be known as TFA going forward -- stands for TopTeam Fitness Academy) I cannot wait! Starts on Monday. Wooo!
  • They posted more pictures from the last session. I'm in some of them... and don't look like I'm dying which is an added bonus!
  • Went shopping yesterday and bought TWO pairs of pants at the Banana Rep. outlet... both are size 14s. I've slowly been throwing out (well donating) my 16s so I don't have the excuse of going back into them if the holidays are rough... you know?
  • Did I mention I'm going to Cancun in less than a week? Only for 4 days but hey I'll take what I can get!
  • The dating situation is up in the air... I've got on quite a few dates with one guy and like him but am not sure he's all that into me. Such is life! But I'll keep everyone posted haha.
  • My TFA trainers have banned carbs after 5pm. We have to turn in a food journal and that's what I have to work on. No carbs and absolutely NO sweets after 5pm. It's SO FREAKING HARD! But I told them I'd try... so I'm trying. I've been eating tons of spag squash for dinner.
  • I made Pumpkin Oatmeal Thingies yesterday. They're so scrumptious. I love them!
  • It's TRIPLE coupon day at the grocery store. I can't wait to go use all of my $0.75 coupons.. they turn into $2.25 when you triple them. Can you say savings?!
  • Last year this time is when I started WW hardcore again. Since then I've lost 24.2 pounds. Granted it's taken a year but hey I'm not complaining! I'm still 24 pounds lighter than I was last year at this time so I'll take it!
I think that about sums up my week. I probably wont' be all that good at posting this week again because we're moving to a new office in our building so I'll be packing up all week long... then off to Cancun Fri morning. Yippee!!

10.21.2008

Title-less

Just checking in. Not much to say but it'll probably be a random post. Shall we bullet it? I think so to.
  • I've been eating CRAP since Thursday. It's our pledge drive at work (gotta love public broadcasting) so we have had breakfast, lunch AND dinner provided. And none of it has been healthy. I decided I could eat the food here (silly to turn down free food) as long as I worked out.
  • I've been kicking butt with boot camp even though I've been working 10-12 hour days. I try to get there before or after work whichever my schedule allows.
  • I took some sort of liquid vitamin shot (Bazi?) this morning that Trainer Boy gave me... he's disturbed by the cough I've had for over a week... it made me all sorts of jittery today. Strange. Edit: A shot of liquid... like out of a cup... not an injection! I'd never let anyone shoot me up with some strange substance. Yikes!!
  • I am excited for the food to be gone from work next week so I can start eating VEGGIES and FRUIT again!
  • Had date #4 with Funny Boy last night. I think I have a little crush on him. But shh you didn't hear that from me.. or maybe you did :)
  • I do not want to go to boot camp tonight since I've been at work since 6:45am and will be here til 5:30pm but I have to go. Then I can go home and sit on my ass all night
  • I had a nice chit chat with my mom about how I'm dating boys these days... she cracks me up. But she's the best and of course just kept telling me she doesn't care who I date as long as I'm happy. Yay for mom.
  • I have SO much TV to catch up on!!!!
  • I need new workout pants. I only have 2 pairs that I really like and they are SO old and faded. Any suggestions?
  • In less than a month I'm going to Cancun!!!
Ok I think I covered the basics. I'm going to go change for boot camp, make sure things here are good and head out! PJs and the couch is soooooo soon, but not soon enough.

10.14.2008

Tell me the TRUTH

I went out last night. I stayed out until 11:15pm. I got home at 11.40pm. I then turned on the end of the Phillies game and watched it til 12:10... THEY WON!!!

Boot Camp was (luckily) canceled for this morning. So there's only the evening session. Which is from 5:45-6:45. I'm super sleepy right now and just don't feel like dealing with it. And these are the reasons why:
  1. I'm going to a friend's house for dinner and am supposed to be there at 7. It's 30 min from boot camp. I will arrive a) late and b) sweaty (but they know this)
  2. I'm just plain old tired
  3. I have a cough
  4. My hamstrings are tragically sore from yesterday morning
  5. I'm tired
  6. My shoulder is still a little messed up from something I did to it last week
  7. I'm still tired
  8. I'm having a good hair day and don't want to ruin it with boot camp (I know, I'm pathetic)
So now someone tell me the truth. Are these EXCUSES (I believe so) or legitimate reasons to skip boot camp?

In other news -- the reason for my tiredness (other than the Phillies) is because I went on date #3 with Funny Boy last night. We went bowling. It was hysterical. I suck so bad... but we had a lot of fun. As random as bowling is, you can't deny that it's a good time. There was also a little goodnight kiss. Teehee. (But dating still sucks. I will forever argue that point.)

10.07.2008

Back to the Grind

I've been a bit MIA lately.

On the food front my weekend wasn't great -- lots of eating out and not making the best choices. On the fun front it was an awesome weekend! I had tons of fun with Maureen who was in town visiting. We had some good southern BBQ, did the Race for the Cure, Went to a Wine Festival, watched the Phillies game, had breakfast at the most amazing place and just laughed a lot!

Yesterday was back to the grind. I set my alarm to get up for boot camp but my allergies were acting up and I had a nasty headache. I called TB and told him I'd be there for the evening session. (I LOVE having that option!!) So yesterday even though it was the last thing I wanted to do... I hit up boot camp after work. I was the only person there! Not cool. It was TB and his GF and me. Luckily TB's GF was kind enough to do the workout with me so at least I felt like they both weren't just watching me like hawks. We did bleacher jump ups (OUCH!), bear crawls, lunges, hill clims, squats and leg lifts... my quads were screaming by the end. But I'm actually not that sore today! Am I getting stronger maybe? Let's hope!

Last night I went on date #2 with Funny Boy. Since I had boot camp after work and then again this morning I told him I had to be home and in bed by 11. So we went out for Thai food (amazing) and then just chatted for a while. It was fun... I'll probably see him again :)

I was in bed by 10:52, sound asleep by 11 and up at 5:30 for boot camp this morning! Our entire workout was based around a playground! It was really cute... but still hard as crap! Here are pictures from last week's play ground workout (I missed it because I was busy hanging out at the beach teehee). Slides look fun... but it's amazing how they can be turned into a tourture device so easily! haha

Tonight on the agenda is the Melting Pot! They are having a ladies night special where you get all 4 courses for 30 bucks. Not too shabby! So 3 of us are going. I'll try to save up points and at least I got some APs so that's good!

I'm hoping to be in bed and sleeeeping by 10 so I'm all ready for another AM boot camp session tomorrow morning. I'm shooting for 5 days this week! That means yoga on Friday too... ugh!

Also - check out Friendly Philly Food for pics of my adorable lunch from yesterday!

Bullets, Beer and Twitter

I have lots to say today so we'll go bullet style. Yes! That's my favorite way to post hahaha.
  • My best friend from first grade is in town visiting this weekend. YES! I'm so excited to hang out with her :)
  • We are doing the Race for the Cure tomorrow morning! We'll most likely do a walk/run combo - I can't wait!
  • My eating this week has been ALL over the place but I'm trying to be as good as I can considering I was on vacation Sat-Tues, have a friend in town this weekend AND haven't been to the grocery store in over a week
  • I went to boot camp Wed morning and last night! I was crank city yesterday and did not want to be there but when it was over I was so happy I went. The workout was actually sort of fun, other than running up and down a huge hill and around soccer fields
  • AND the website for boot camp is finally up. I'd link it but I'd rather not have it come up that it was through my site (I don't need TB knowing what I eat everyday hahahaha). There are pictures of TB and his GF all over, so very vain, but it cracks me up. It's topteamfitnessacademy with a little .com at the end. So take two seconds to type it out :)
  • I joined twitter!!! My username is jeannie962. I don't really get it, but if you twitter (or is it twit?) too come find me.
  • Date on Wed night went well. Not much chemistry, but we shall see. We did have a really fun time, drank a few beers and laughed a lot. I'll be sure to keep you posted.
  • I had the BEST beer last night. I don't usually drink beer but I couldn't pass this one up. It's Cottonwood's Pumpkin Spiced Ale. AMAZING! You can really taste the pumpkin and spices. It was like desserty! Delish.
  • I'm sorry that I haven't been commenting on all the BLBE blogs this week, it's just been a little bit crazy! Hopefully next week will be better but I've been reading along in my google reader and cheering everyone on in my head! Keep up the good work. Hopefully I'll have at least a little loss to counteract last week's GAIN.
  • I've had two P-Spice latte's (translation: pumpkin spice lattes) this week. I made myself wait until Oct to try them so you bet your ass that after getting just 4 hours of sleep on Tues night and 6 on Wed night I was pumping myself full of caffeine p spice latte style on Oct 1 and 2. I LOVE THEM!
  • I'm wearing jeans today that I bought FOUR years ago and have never fit into. Talk about a good feeling!!!!
  • I'm obsessed with this birth control the dr. put me on. It's Seasonale where you only get your period once every 3 months.. which sort of irked me but she assured me it's ok. So uhm for the first time in THREE MONTHS I have my period and it's so much better than it used to be. Still have cramps but not nearly as bad and really... every THREE months? Amazing!! Sorry if that was TMI but I'm just totally obsessed :)
Whew... I think that's it. I hope today flies by so I can go home and hang out with my visitor!!! So evil that I have to be here today while she's in town. Stinkin work.

Just Kidding

My date canceled on me! He was super sweet about it and felt like a total moron... but still. I was all excited to go out and have a fun night. We're having a bit of a gas shortage here in Charlotte.... So smarty pants was off today and went to play golf, came home and realized he needed gas. So he started driving around looking for gas and well all the stations in Charlotte are out. So he's now at home, with no gas...

He apologized profusely and said we should definitely meet up next week. He leaves for a 3 day charter flight something or other tomorrow morning and I leave for Florida on Saturday and get home on Tuesday. Lame, right?

So that's my story. Since I'm already done my workout I'm going to put on my PJs and watch TV the rest of the night. And secretly, I'm excited about it!

Amazing Stuff and Boot Camp: Day 3

Kari, over at Taking Back Control, saw my before pictures (from the Charlotte tri) and was inspired. I can't even begin to say how humbled I am by her post. I never thought a goal that I set for myself last Christmas would ever have any sort of impact on anyone else. BUT... it has! I was able to convince Carrie to sign up even though she'd JUST HAD A BABY - talk about heros (and it was SO great having her there in Philly!!). Then my cousin signed up for the 2 day Breast Cancer walk in NYC after cheering me on at my first tri. So not only has she been training for that, but she also raised a BOATLAD of money for breast cancer research (if you feel generous feel free to donate some more). And now Kari is going to do a tri! So go visit her site and cheer her on :)

Whew... that was a lot of links! But it totally made my morning.

In other news -- I got up again for Boot Camp this morning! Three days in a row up at 5:40! We had our "Standardized Test" -- but no, I didn't need a number 2 pencil. Teehee. It was a set course that we had to do and TB timed us. Then we'll do it again at the end of the 6 weeks to see how much we improved. The course was as follows:

- jog 2 laps around soccer filed
- 20 pushups (i did girlie ones on my knees)
- jog a lap
- 30 situps
- jog a lap
- 20 squats
- jog a lap
- 20 pushups
- jog a lap
- 30 situps
- jog a lap
- 20 squats
- jog a lap

Today I was the slowest person but only by about a minute. Though one guy finished like 16 minutes before me!!! Insane. But I was proud because I didn't allow myself to walk at all. I did jog every single lap. Granted it was a slow pace... but I didn't give up. My time was 28:11. I was hoping to do it in 30 minutes so I was happy! Hopefully in 6 weeks it'll be easier AND faster. We shall see :) I get to sleep in tomorrow and I'm going to the 5:45 PM session... woohoo for sleeping!

In other news, I have a date tonight. More on that tomorrow :)

As for the BLBE Challenge... I've been working out (hello boot camp), and tracking everything I eat. I've been SO proud of myself.... but the stinkin scale is moving UP! I will NOT let it de-motivate me. Screw you scale. I know I'm doing all the right stuff. (Someone remind me of this if I have a gain on Sat and melt down hah)

Time to get out there?

A few weeks ago I bit the bullet and joined match.com. What have I got to lose, right? I figured it's time to see what's out there. And I'm also looking in a different direction that in the past. Giving the boys a shot.

So that being said last night I had my first date. Oh man. Let's first start off with the fact that I've got a wretched cold. And haven't slept well at all this week. Put them together and you get a bit of a disaster haha. But we had emailed a few times, IMed and talked so decided it was time to do the face to face thing. I was so freakin nervous. It's one thing getting out there after being in a long term relationship. It's another thing getting out there when you've never dated a guy before.... adds a WHOLE new level of spazing.

But it ended up being a really nice night. He's from Brooklyn and embodies everything about the borough. The accent, the Italian in him, love of ALL NY sports (Giants and Yankees especially... sheesh). And he's tall. Taller than tall. 6'9 to be exact. So uhm go stand in a doorway and thats pretty much how tall he is. For me to have to get on my tippy toes to give someone a hug is a rarity.

We had great conversation. Debated a lot. I do believe at one point he called me a "bleeding heart, tree hugging liberal".... Laughed quite a bit as well.

Overall I'm not sure there was anything there. But it was a really fun night. And he did tell me he's never seen anyone look so good in 'jeans and a tshirt before' -- so that's always nice to hear. If I'm allowed to take this second to be self absorbed and cocky... I did look good :)

As for today... I've got TB tonight at 5. Then off to Adam and Leahs to get the rundown for watching Henry this weekend. After that I'm hoping to come home, pack for the weekend with Henry, take some NyQuil and GO TO BED!
